Lets say I have moved domains, (same site content) but wanna redirect traffic coming to old domain to new domain...

Would you say a 301 via the domain registrar is better, or should I redirect from the host? Thanks.

If you do a 301 redirect from the domain registrar you won't actually need the host anymore. However, if your website has a SSL certificate then the best way to do it is through the hosting (because you can't 301 redirect a https:// within the registrar. The certificate is being handled/installed through the server/hosting).

If you want to save money and u do not want to collect data about users being redirected then there is no need for hosting.
