world wide.
Late on Friday May 3rd, we became aware of an issue with Firefox
that prevented existing and new add-ons from running or being installed.
We are very sorry for the inconvenience caused to people who use Firefox.

A technical glitch breaks Firefox extensions, but a fix is out
An out-of-date certificate to blame

If you're struggling to get your Firefox extensions working today,
you're not alone a technical glitch has rendered all add-ons
unusable, and Mozilla is currently working on a fix.

it looks like an out-of-date certificate has borked everyone's
extensions, as Firefox is simply recognizing them as
incompatible.

I thought it was just my problem.
Uninstall the Firefox I had and install Firefox ESR
I do not know if the problem was solved, but for me Firefox ESR is working very well
it's even more stable than normal firefox.

Weird I heard about that 4 days ago. Not sure why they saying it was yesterday.

got me tonight
still cant install addons

theres is a temp fix - can take 6 hrs

To provide this fix on short notice, we are using the Studies system.
This system is enabled by default, and no action is needed unless Studies have been disabled.
Firefox users can check if they have Studies enabled by going to:
Firefox Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security -> Allow Firefox to install and run studies
(scroll down to find the setting)

It may take up to six hours for the Study to be applied to Firefox. To check if the fix has been applied,
you can enter “about:studies” in the location bar. If the fix is in the active, you’ll see
“hotfix-update-xpi-signing-intermediate-bug-1548973” in either the Active studies or

Go to about:config and disable xpinstall.signatures.requires
Should work on most versions.

Yes this is true.. I thought it was only me! all my FF addons were suddenly disabled!

I was going crazy why all of my addons are disabled. Then I searched on Google and everything became clear. I have to use firefox for some tasks and can't really do them at the moment.

Go to about:config and disable xpinstall.signatures.requires

Yea it works only on esr, developer edition and all linux versions(from my experience).

Allowing firefox to run studies seems to work for many but if that was the only option for me i wouldn't do it. Millions of users allowing them to invade their privacy, seems phishy. I wonder what will happen to all Tor users whos noscript got disabled just like that without warnings, if they did anything sensitive...
