^^ This is the correct answer. 10 yrs ago blockchain wouldn't have had the nerve to covertly try to amass user data like this.
Only way this makes sense is if it can be massively exploited with fake ID's created from thispersondoesnotexist.. Would be beautiful to hear that someone ripped blockchain for 100k using imaginary people

Oh, the data is definitely on their systems and not blockchain. I meant I don't mind giving the data away assuming I can get away with my identity not being used maliciously

When I said 'blockchain' I was talking about the company instead of the data structure. They would be beyond insane to store people's personal data on any kind of blockchain other than a private chain and then there's no technical benefit over a standard db. The question really is how would you know what happens to your data after you give it to them.
A better question is why are they willing to pay $50 for it?
Stellar Foundation has been making a shit ton of giveaways everywhere, funding events and stuff like this. I suppose they have a lot in reserve and just trying to get a lot of new users interested in XLM.
Actually, I believe they have like 15% of their budget dedicated to giveaways, that would explain all of this insanity

Yeah I mean that's true, there's every likelihood it's relatively benign. I guess what it comes down to is whether or not $50 is worth taking the risk and for sure it's worth it for some.
