Semrush gonna waste Ahrefs now

Ahrefs is an invaluable tool. I don’t think they’ll suffer from this move - they’ll keep all of their paid customers, lose maybe 80% of non-paying customers and perhaps convert the other 20%. Win win.

I think that's shortsighted but I realize I'm in the minority here.

Its lifecycle of every product. Nothing wrong. one becomes paid, and other new tools will rise. People used to Pay Moz tool access, then ahref came with free access and better version. All IM'ers jumped there.

I'm quite happy with it as a paying member. I'd noticed that Ahrefs had slowed down recently. Probably due to the scrotums forever making new accounts and taking up bandwidth.

It was a sad day yesterday.

I wont pay 99 bucks for doing 5-10 searches a day. So I went ahead and bought Majestic lite instead. I'd prefer Ahrefs any day, their overview of backlinks are 10 times better than Majestic. But the latter seem to get the job done anyway.

I guess there’s an argument for both sides. Free access is a big part of the internet. The thing with ahrefs though, is they provide so much value, and the infrastructure required to office their service is so expensive. So I can see the logic behind their decision.

Personally I’d prefer it if they added more paid plans, and more granular billing so you could get some form of access with a lower budget.

I meant it as my opinion on what I perceive to be a bad move.

Agree with the idea of adding more plans, etc, but from what I read on this thread they don't really need any of that, right !

I think that he is not saying that Semrush is a better tool that Ahrefs...
He is essentially saying that Ahrefs is going to be punished economically for limiting their trialling freemium system and Semrush will start profiting from this, making that the R&D dpt of Semrush overtake at some point over the years the current power of Ahrefs

Or simply said: I think that the anti-freemium policy of Ahrefs is going to take them to the hole.

From my point of view, there are constant rotations, and despite Ahrefs have been for a long time the king in terms of links, I would preferably say (in case that this policy affects negatively their economy) that Majestic could kill Ahrefs in this aspect and I find that even KWfinder (mangools) may overtake Semrush at some point also, leaving Semrush in a weird state, that currently I can't figure out were is going (trying to fight for everything and nothing at the same time)

This is a great example. They used to be a really great and powerful tool (very expensive) and now they have fallen behind. But they could go back to the front at some point. Just matters of rotations

I Guess a lot of Ahrefs users will Back this move for their own selfish benefit too.
But i think it could play out as a bad move for AHREFS if the others like semrush and majestic up their game right now.

Me personally dont care ,a s i cant afford their prices and dont need to look at seo stats everyday, so will stick to google console and cheap tool sharing services and still reap the same benefits.
