Is it just me or are there tons of n00B's pimping their stuff here lately?

We've got a n00B pimping an affiliate program, someone with 5 posts pimping some My*Space thing, and someone with 11 posts selling a poker script.

I don't mean to be rude, but come on. I would never buy something from someone who wasn't at least a Jr VIP.

Just because we are recent members doesn't mean we don't have years of SEO / marketing / development experience. It just means we've found or finally joined the site. Some of us have viable products too. Buyer beware. If it stinks don't buy it. That's the way I shop. Anyhows nice to meet you.

This thread inadvertently brings up a good point -- getting people to buy from you when they don't know who you are or what you're products are like.

Ever notice how many ads for ebooks look like they came off of an assembly line? Even when the writer says he's a "nobody", a "teenager", an "amateur", etc.

As soon as I see the usual buzzwords, or the usual cookie-cutter page layout, I instantly know that I'm reading yet another load of sales rubbish written by a professional scammer.

The usual cookie-cutter page layout like that has been proven to be the best performing way to sell anything, that is why everyone's sales page looks like that.

Monty wasn?t referring to anybody in specific. Like Diabolik said if you can?t follow the guidelines put forth then walk out the door. This is a forum, a FORUM, not a marketplace. Read the definition of a forum, forums aren?t just internet communities, they have them with real walking people, would they like it if someone come walking in on them and selling stuff if that person didn?t yet present enough information worthy to that discussion forum? I think he?d/she?d get booted very fast.

id he says that he has run it past the mods or admin then the fault lays with the mods and admin because they may be passing these products for sale but do not have a system in place to let us know they have been passed or have l missed something

Yes, I may have mentioned one or two specific things I had seen recently, but only for the sake of example. I wasn't trying to single out any one person, which is why I didn't name names.

I do not mean to imply that new people don't have anything good to offer. I was simply asking if the proper channels had been followed and if our mods are aware that these offers are in here.

Seriously, though, I don't know that I would join a forum, make 3 posts, and then sell something. I think I would try to get to know the members a little bit more first, but that's just me.

At the moment, there are no requirements to sell something in the BST. Why should there be? As several users have already pointed out, just because you're new to THIS forum, doesn't mean you're a noob in general or that your product is no good. All we require is a $20 BST fee and a manual inspection & approval of any software/scripts. We don't set the price, and we don't give official reviews (anymore). As several others have said, caveat emptor. If it sounds too good to be true, or if you have any suspicions, then don't buy it. It's that simple. No one is FORCING you to buy anything here!

Although common sense is the rarest commodity there is, I have to agree "partially" with CantSeeMe.

I've spent a good portion of the last decade with BH and other less-popular means and only decided to actually click the join button here a few weeks back.

I can, however on the other side see why you'd mention the JR member comment, however I know many people who had worked themselves in a trusted position before swindling people. Unfortunately there's always that element to some degree.

Isnt this why so many people suggest admin/mods check out a product for free, before they buy? Why not make that a mandatory step prior to selling on here? The mods wont mind as they'd get an added perk, the community wouldnt mind because someone un-related is testing it and giving an unbiased report, and the seller shouldnt mind because if they have something of value to sell, the moderator should see this. Then to top it off, perhaps a section of the forum dedicated to BHW member product reviews. This way Tube Automator and Proxy Machine and the likes can get attention from those wanting real reports of its usefulness.

Problem with mods reviewing things just happened on another forum, guy gave review copies, guys spent money to test it, later was outed for selling something that dont work, If the mods here had to spend money and time, to test stuff would suck to be a mod.

Maybe an alternative would be to pay a fee to have it tested, That way a mod will get paid for their time to test and reveiw [new position opening lol]. This could be optional for someone that wanted to sell, but would be better than having the mods review everything. [I am talking about documented implimentation costs etc.]

Although the seller could do this on their own.
