There is a insert or edit link option in tumblr, you can create clickable links and clickable images on tumblr, it's very effective and you should try this.

No matter if you want to post direct message, there is a link option on that box where you can create the clickable link

There isn't an option in chat messages, right? Or I'm off or something...
I've got some lost fans who don't know how to find another platform of mine, which is shown on the homepage of the blog they're already following. Yeah. But hey, not everyone is tech-savvy. And, maybe they won't know how to use the non-clickable link if I send them just that.
Hell, if I sent the Instagram handle to them, @----- they may not find it. I'll have to try that one, though.

you're right, there is no option for link in dm
