How do I connect to clients wifi?

We are having issues due to a different location. they are in a different country and their country is very limited on proxys. Most proxys don't work and the rest cost too much to run .(rather use own IP anyways. It's safer )

How would I connect to their WiFi ? Should a rat work or is there something safer to use? I'd rather not risk a backdoor on the rat .

Will this work if they aren't computer savvy at all? We tried port forwarding before and they ended up just getting confused.(not sure if this same method)
