This is just another newbie’s journey to 1 Dollar using a pair of Amazon Affiliate sites.

My goal is to make a dollar and scale up from there using one or both site ideas. I’m using two very different sites (one purchased from the BST and one I will be building myself) to compare and contrast my methodology, research, and understanding of IM.

Once/if I get everything set up I’ll work on scaling things up and up and up. Usually I’d use the SMART principle for this kind of goal setting, but I’m not entirely sure what to expect or where the money will be best put. So, while I’m working on this I’ll be studying and reestablishing my goals again and again.

Sooner or later I’ll probably be offering writing services on BHW in order to pay for my education here, but right now I’m going to focus on sweat equity and a 200 dollar starting budget.

Spent so far:

  • Site package from BST (69 dollars) – Delivery will probably be in a week or so.
  • 2000 words written content for my own site (21 dollars) – Same with this
  • Site hosting for 1 year (12 dollars) – I expect to have to buy this again very soon for the BST site and another one)
Total spent: 102 dollars

Niches:

BST Site: (Unknown)
MySite 1: Health and Personal Care

Content Plan:

MySite1 will focus on health and personal care with things like best of product lists, reviews, and longer pillar articles focusing on the practical sides of the niche. It’s all meant to be informative and keep people coming back.

Once I have about 25-30k words written (written by myself and outsourced), I’m going to start drip feeding them in. Half way into it, I’ll probably remix some of the articles to use as guest blog articles and outsource some variations of my pillar articles to use as a basis for some e-books for mailing list builders and kindle ebooks which will also link back to the site.

The niche isn’t super saturated but it has a lot of things that can be done with it, there are a lot of other keywords that’d fit in it, and it should be easy to get some affiliate sales. I don’t know if the amazon sales are going to be worth it, since most of the products are under 20 dollars. They have lots of reviews, and review well, but there’s nothing like the magical 50-1000 I read about on BHW.

Maybe I should wait to see what my BST seller gives me before I go nuts filling out a site that’ll never go anywhere. But then again, it’s a week of lead time I could use to make my mistakes early and apply those lessons to the new site.

Thoughts are welcome and appreciated.
