Trademark infringement complaint

Hi all,

So I got few emails from both Domain registrar and Cloudflare from AppDetex on behalf of one of the biggest tech companies (think FaceBook territory) that my domain name is Unauthorized use of their Trademark.

Let's do IG as example as I think many might have experience with them:
my domain would be instaboost, or instaviral. so its using some of the same letters. I'am ofcourse selling services for their site and is ranking.

If you have experienced something alike:
Did you answer?
What was the outcome?
What would you recommend me doing?

First thing, if its real email, I would drop that domain. If its fake one, just ignore it. No need to fight over a domain, unless its bringing you $$$$$ or worth $$$$$. You can share company name if you want.

@ches32 FWIW, receiving an e-mail may be a first step, and it may be of concern, however, I receive so many e-mails every day that I honestly ignore *ALL* e-mail threats, cease and desist requests, et cetera. When I receive a physical letter in the mail, I usually ignore those as well. If, however, the letter is from an attorney's office, I make sure they are a real attorney who would most likely handle that kind of case, then I hand it over to my attorney and go from there.

I am going to make up a percentage here, but 99.9% of these are a waste of time.

I once purchased several domains that had the word Nike in them. I had received some information that Nike was going to release some new shoes so I bought the name of the shoes, as well as misspellings, and other variations. I worked those domains a bit, to build up their juice before the shoes were released. One of the shoes was never released, or my information was bad. Another of the shoes was released and I moved the domains to a shoe retailer. Had Nike approached me, i would have had little to stand on legally. That was a pretty stupid game i played there.

My current playbook says to just spend the money with the USPTO and be the legal winner from the beginning.

All that being said, be careful. Do not do anything blatantly stupid. And make sure you have a solid, justifiable (legally grounded) purpose for your actions. When in serious doubt, consult our legal team. If you do not have a legal team, get one ... before you need them.

Had my lawyer go through the issue and send a response, since I already got some brand recognition and $ rolling in with this domain.
