Make BAT by using Brave Browser

I don't seem to be receiving ads or rewards.

Other than enabling Brave Rewards, and Ads, do you have to configure anything else?

I have my "Ad Control" under the "Brave Shields Defaults" set to "Block Ads". Should this be set to "Allow Ads and Tracking"? I thought it would be block ads, then prompt me if i landed on a page, that had ads from which i could then chose to view the ad and receive the reward?

No, the ads look like a Windows notification in the browser. You don't need to turn off Brave Shields unless a website doesn't load right.

Thanks for your reply. Could you link me to a URL that has an Ad which would work for testing, as i've been using the browser and haven't seen a single notification as yet?

Whats your OS? Definitely works with Win 10 but you need to make sure focus mode is off. Not sure on Win 8. Doesnt work on Win 7 at all.

"Not available for android" where I do the majority of my browsing :(

There is a 1.0.88 version for android as of march 29, 2019.

And btw, not a single ad in my dev version in 2 days of use. I am pretty sure that 99% of advertisers only target the US and not so much us in EU, at least for the time being.

Ah that's unfortunate. I guess there's not much point getting the Android version. So no BATS so far?

Try asking on their support Telegram https://t.me/batproject

I found out some information on the Brave subreddit:

Brave Ads will initially be released in the US, UK, Canada, France and Germany. We’ll support other countries across two future rollout phases, eventually reaching full global support. Please keep in mind that if you’re in a country that is not one of the five countries listed, you will not see ads in the Dev Channel Preview at this time.

And

We’re using the Dev Channel to test different ad rates, pricing rates, and to run experiments. This means there’s a high likelihood that tokens earned in the Dev Channel build will be lower than what many expect, and that the values will likely fluctuate as we conduct different experiments and tests. Such changes have already been observed by the community, but we’d like to acknowledge them here as well.

Will try their telegram, see what they come up with and let you know. I am pretty sure it's geo for the BATs.

Then a VPN or US-based residential proxy service should do the trick?

Remember it's still in beta testing. If you join up now you're ahead of 99% of the crowd.

I've seen some speculating BAT could be worth $10 in 2 years.

That'd be thousands for me with my browsing habits, lol. I'm up to about $.20 a day and I'm probably going to stash some spare change. They also said that the dev version is nerfed and the actual reward for browsing should be a bit higher when it hits the general public.

My bats are gone. I have 12 bats yesterday but now zero.

There'll be enormous demand for BAT when the system is opened to advertisers in general. Brace yourself!

My monthly earnings just hit my Brave wallet. I earned about 7 BAT (~$2) last month, but they paid me 60.4 BAT ($18.19) which may or may not include what I actually earned. I think it was more like an air drop which is pretty sick. People say these pop up once a month too, which is awesome. To date, I've been granted a total of 160 BAT (100 BAT for taking Coinbase intro to BAT classes non-referral: https://www.coinbase.com/earn/basic-attention-token/) and earned about $47 just from granted tokens. A few months of this and some success for the coin itself could see a really REALLY good return if I wait.

There was a bug with the last browser update. Earnings are still there, just not displayed.

I believe this was just a token drop because you had to claim them on 4/3. I received 60.1 yesterday. I missed out on the earlier promotions.

I have 52 BAT from the Coinbase promotion and earned 55 from browsing in March. I have another 7 through today.

FYI - BAT was as $0.19 when I did the Coinbase promotion.

Been browsing for a day, no ads yet. The browser seems solid, however it is not blocking a lot of popunder ads on certain sites. UBlock on Chrome blocks these just fine. Hoping this improves with the development.

Yeah, I noticed that too. However, the browser is meant to primarily block ad tracking.
