IG promo guidelines

I'm doing a promo offer/giveaway on Instagram. Participants must share my photo and tag me to get a free product (pay for shipping only).

Does it matter what I call it? A giveaway/offer/promotion? If it's a giveaway do I HAVE to include that it is not affiliated with Instagram in anyway?

Yes. Is in their TOS. You must clarify that Instagram isn’t related with the contest/giveaway.

But what makes it a contest/giveaway if everyone gets a free product who reposts the photo. It's not a sweepstake. Just a regular promo offer of some kind. No different than a sale offer. I don't see companies saying their sales aren't affiliated with IG.

Just interested in understanding where does the line go and what I should I call my offer.

Well. Honestly they don’t explain that in detail. But they clearly specified that is a must to write those lines of “Instagram isn’t related with this contest...” so be aware of that and follow the rules of them.

The honest answer is you're most likely not going to get banned for anything you say in your giveaway. Even requiring people to tag friends is against the ToS but there are hundreds it not thousands of giveaways a day that go against the ToS. It's not something that's really enforced by Instagram so I wouldn't sweat it too much.

pay for only shipping? Thats not a giveaway . You should call it an offer instead .

Sunny co called their offer a giveaway as well. I think it may help with going viral which is why I made this thread. I'm investing thousands into shoutouts so I want to make the right decisions...

You can call it whatever you want, but giveaway means giving away something for free, and you are still asking them shipping ( a lot of drop shipper do Free+Shipping to get sales, and your giveaway sounds like that ) So I would suggest you to give away something for free rather then asking anything.
