Few years ago, when SEO was much more simple, you could just launch a new website, send some links and add content and start ranking in the first month.

However, those days, the game is a bit different.

For those of you who launched new websites in the last few years, you probably noticed that whatever you have done in the first few months, your site won't show up on the first pages of Google for anything.

What is Sandbox?
Sandbox is the nickname that the community gave to this period of time after you launch a website, when doesn't matter which and how many links and content you add, your site just won't show up on the first pages.

It is kind of a filter that Google added on new sites.

How to reduce the Sandbox time?
In order to combat the Sandbox, you will need to show Google that you aren't just a new affiliate website which is just here to make some money.
You will need to follow the steps that EVERY real business is following.

This is how it looks like, credits for the infographic goes to DiggityMarketing:

Step 1:
The first step every new legit business over the world is doing is to create a Social Fortress, which is basically creating pages on popular social signals platforms like FB, Twitter, Linkedin, G+, Instagram, etc.
I will also recommend setting up IFTTT, so every new post you will publish will be syndicated on those platforms and therefore will drive additional social signals to your pages.

Step 2:
Press Release is really popular among real new business, so it is something you want to do on your new websites as well. Just order PR package from some popular service.

Step 3:
Get some social signals.
I will suggest ordering social signals to your homepage, dripfeeded for few weeks.
In the meantime, publish your content and if you did setup IFTTT as I recommended earlier, you should have social signals going to your inner pages as well.

Do this, get some early love from Google and you will be able to reduce the sandbox length and start ranking ealier and faster!

Sorry to ask if it seems silly :
What do you mean by the IFTTT condition?

There's a sandbox? I never had to wait long to get on first page (max. 2 months.) IMO..I don't think it has anything to do with sandbox. I can imagine that it is an indirect effect caused by Google algos.

Would you use IFTTT syndication for adult sites. It's kinda spammy when you publish 10 ~ 20 posts a day

IFTTT = If This Then That
Google it, basically using automation so every post you share on your website will be shared on your social media channels as well.

2 months is not a short time, in the past it was possible within weeks.

I honestly never worked with adult sites, but if its not spammy for you to post 20 posts a day on your website, then it's not spammy to do it over your social media channels.

I just wanted to open a thread on this, but suddenly this thread came up on the homepage. First of all great post.

The so called "sandbox" is something which I am struggling with since a few months. Built websites, started link building and websites went straight into this "sandbox" for an unspecific time. Sometimes for 14 days, but sometimes for more than two months. I guess it has definitely something to do with my link building strategy, thats why I try to figure out the best and safest strategy these days.

From my experience (20+ websites since September 2018) the best way is to build less backlinks, but to make them as high quality as possible. Instead of sending less quality backlinks straight to the money site its better to send the backlinks to the high quality backlinks. Like a filter. So its better to build 10x high quality web 2.0 with unique content as tier 1, than 70x web 2.0 with spun content as tier 1. The time where the quantity of backlinks could outrank websites with a few quality backlinks of the same kind is over.

But what I also noticed is it depends heavily on the niche itself. For some niche it didn't matter how many and what kinda backlinks I built.

OP, do you know some websites where to publish press releases?

Also what do you think about high da profile links? Should they go together with Step 1, being created directly in the beginning?

2018 someone found a way to game the XML site maps and reported it to Google. He could rank basically any keyword gaming it this way. That is how real your mythical sandbox is.

I am still new to this but can you build links from the first week your site's up?
Wont it be penalized for building links that early..?

You are best to buy links via media buys that will actually give you a link and traffic too. Traffic plays a big part.

Or alternatively, you can buy services on BHW that are 2012 SEO tactics, that rank any fucking keyword you like. And it must be true. Cause several hundred new accounts say so. "Wow I went from zero to fucking hero on high comp keyword off some shitty profile links"

I'll look into that..

Might as well invest that money on Junior VIP membership..
Better to get knowledge instead of getting scammed :D
