I was cleaning out my apartment and found an old but pretty powerful gaming laptop in my closet.

I tried mining BTC for awhile but that ended up being a waste of time.

What are some ways I can passively generate $$$ using my old laptop, just leaving it on all day doing some task?

Interesting you mention this because I have like 4 laptops decent laptops working that I would like to get working ;)

Mining would be pointless, you could turn them into Private Servers and rent them out, they’re not virtual so you can’t call them VPS ;)
You could install bots and have them running 24/7 growing social media accounts to sell shoutouts or sell the accounts themselves

Hello

"You could install bots and have them running 24/7 growing social media accounts to sell shoutouts or sell the accounts themselves"
very interesting for me
sell shoutouts or sell accounts themselves - what do you mean bro?

You could find a client or multiple clients if you are willing to put in minimal effort, but for a set and forget type system one client is best. Someone who wants promotion on a site like Poshmark or Etsy and create a bot to share, follow/unfollow for them and turn it on. I have two laptops quietly making me money and because they are not my shops the owner deal with all the hassles and day to day of running the shop and I just sit back and get commissions.

This is one scenario you could do, there are dozens of other things you can just set it up to do and get paid for it. Someone might want some data formatted in a certain way or a data entry project they need doing that could be automated and run throughout the month. As was mentioned above, you could have bots running that grow social media accounts that you monetize at a later date.

Gaming laptop, you can stream live gameplays on twitch and make money. Also record and edit the gameplays post on youtube for more revenue.

how it can be used for etsy accounts?

There are ton of things you can automate on Etsy. If you find yourself a few clients for those services you could leave a laptop running collecting revenue.

can you elaborate some of the things you can automate on etsy are you talking about like or favourite?

also want to ask how bulk message on etsy without a ban, a lot of personalize message will work?

Most people won't make a profit botting social media. Having a second laptop doesn't change that. A VPS is only a few bucks and it hasn't suddenly made everyone profitable.

Sure you could rent it out for a few bucks but nobody is paying for the spec it'll be to use you as a residential proxy. You'll make a few bucks a month, maybe cover the power bill but certainly not the time to find someone to rent it.

@OP Realistically, nothing. Keep it as a spare or sell it.

Item favorites, shop favorites, following, unfollowing, forum commenting, team commenting, liking items from team posts. I have never had much luck sending individual messages to users though. Etsy's limits are very low and people are report happy there so account never last long if you use them for that method.
