What happens if you have a back link from a none related site with a high domain authority. Does google mark you down for that ?
I'm trying to wrap my head around this as you have no control who links to your content ?

Even if a website has great SEO metrics, it doesn’t necessarily mean it will be good for your link building campaigns. If a website is not relevant to yours, you might end up building a bad backlink. Google uses relevance as a trust signal.

Hi,

the post content where you get your link from should be (not have to be!) related to your niche, not the whole domain!
Think about all the news sites. Is a link from Huffington or Nytimes a bad link?

I would go for a good metrics (incl. current organic ranking, RD) rather than domain niche relevancy!

Cheers

Depends.

As said above. A general site wouldn't matter.

If it is a dedicated website about cars and you have a backlink from an article about cats, it 'may' not be as powerful as one about cars.

The whole relevancy talk is intiated by google to ensure higher quality.
What if a cat blog owner writes about cat transportation and links to a great vehicle to transport cats...Is that a bad link?

Niche relevancy can't be measured because you can get a relevant link from nearly every text

I agree with @memme on this matter.

Exactly... Niche Relevancy is Important but that does not mean the Entire Site should be in the same niche.

PBN is mostly used for tier 2, so you can use those quality links for your tier2 site

Get it for Tier 2 links as someone already mentioned you.. Don't only focus on metrics , always try to get niche relevant links for your money site

That makes sense. Interesting

Thanks for the replies folks. I was confused now I'm not so confused lol
I guess a 360 approach is the best - a little bit of this, a bit of that and some of these etc, give yourself the evergreen long life chance.
Ideally you are looking for both DA PA with post relevance and good relevant anchor text. I suppose if you can get 3 out of 4 its not so bad?
