Hey everyone! I just singed up for an account after wanting to ask a question in somebody's journey. Although I'm not really certain why I haven't done so sooner.
You may be wondering about the title if your new. But it appears to be common logic that threads with Fuck in them get a lot more attention. Don't hate the player hate the ____?
Anyways I'm a 29 year old American. Been using a computer since about the age of eight. I remember being really into Neopet's, and thinking I was the shit for having my guild page play the Mortal Kombat music.
I made a few yahoo and wordpress website's in my teenage years, but my life got equally pulled into two directions. Gaming and Music.
I've estimated that I've probably spent about 22k hours gaming since I turned 21. This is while juggling full time jobs.
Right now I'm renting a room from a friend, expenses are low, and I'm able to pay all the bills off of Mturk.
However these past few month's have been eating away at me. Ever since I counted out those 22k hours I realized something has got to change.
I quit gaming. I quit smoking that maryjane. Now I work, read, and write in my spare time.
Although I do plan to pick up a legitimate job here in the future, because insurance is way cheaper if I get it through an employer. I also want to start investing some of my income in learning the ropes of internet marketing.
Once I have a concrete plan I may even start a journey thread, but right now my plans are to start taking coding classes online at edx.org, Read BHW every day, and decide on something to dive into after my Turking hours are finished. I am planning on doing this because coding is the only thing that spikes Dopamine in the brain nearly as often as gaming, at least in my experiences.
I like to write, although procrastination has really stopped me from picking up the mechanical pen as much as I would like (keyboard), so I think content writing may be first serious inquiry. Although I may need to brush up on grammar, sentence structure, and some more of the foundations before I consider marketing myself.
Always looking for idea's, motivation, or inspiration so feel free to throw some my idea's my way. I know it's better to dive into something, rather than mull around considering alternatives forever, but at this point it really feels like rolling the dice.
Anyways BlackHatWorld, thanks for having me!
