I need a little help for my life!!!

Hi guys! And thank you for your time!
I try for a while to become a front-end developer. But nothing works.I have basic knowledge html5, CSS,css3, javascript DOM manipulations, but at algorithms I am dad. I started the FreeCodeCamp course but the algorithms are very hard for me to resolve them.
The big problem is I don't see any money from these skills(I think the competition is too high, I am not to prepared, and I can't enter into freelancing).
Can you tell me what I can do to see some results? I've tried to apply on Upwork but I 've earned 66 dollars in 1.5 years, and now my work account is closed...Please help me.

I would say, master what you have learned before moving on to something else. Many have the skills you have, but not many of them are experts.

Once you master these, try learning a server side language like python or php. I prefer python over php because of the better syntax, but php should have more readymade scripts/plugins so.. Choose what you like.

Hi, its nice to hear that you have some skills to fall back on. I must say that this is not the end of the turnel for you careerwise. Many successful people out there started from some point, and failure was part of their journey too. for fonts you can easily make them with illustrator, but with those skills you have you can sell and on freelancer

If you feel that coding is not your cup of tea then you can master something else like Google Adwords or perhaps master any tool like Photoshop or Filmora for video editing. Do some window shopping with relaxed mind and try to find what you really like and passionate about. Have a happy journey and best of luck!

You can learn a client side library like Vue, Angular, etc. and become a pro front-end dev. They get payed ok. Also you could learn a server side language and aim to become a full stack developer (they get payed very well) but that will take a lot of time (many years of hands on experience).

My advice is to find a job (get hired) as a front end dev and grow in a company. It means you essentially get payed to develop your skills. Since you're a junior you will have a small salary to begin with but every year you can renegociate or change jobs wher eyou get better payed and have better perks.

Nothing will happen overnight. The idea is to aim in a direction and start moving in that direction and ideally get payed throughout the process.

Forget upwork - it's overloaded with developers.

Also, you dot really need algorithms. In real life you almost never have to deal with complex algorithms and if you do you can attempt to solve them and if you cant just tell your project lead/senior developer tha you tried and need help and learn from him.

For me I got out of web development last year I closed shop and sold up. I've always managed to deal with the competition and thrived in that industry for 18 years, it peaks and at the moment I think there is a decline in freelance work as most work is being kept internal because of various factors in about 18-24months it will go the other way and everyone will outsource again its been the same for as long as I can remember.

I got tired of sticking with the trend if you try and do it all you will fail, you need to specialize in some kind of area and make a name for your self for me it was ecommerce / landing pages took a few years to get built up but in the end work came to me (i was lucky) id turn projects down. My main aim was to take on 1 project that would cover my yearly income and then pick up other side bits I used to clear on a yearly basis 200k as a freelancer, in the end**, I struggled to get close to 100k the work is there if you want to deal with the crap clients - I never did.

** for me I failed to keep up with the trends as I was getting more involved with farming, my heart nor my head was no longer in it and decide it was time to move on, to be honest wish I done it 10 years sooner!



If you want to stick at it now id look at back end work, I have friends who are banking 150k+ per 6-month project as there is not enough quality developers around (not sure what the lang is but I could find out) then again I got an interface designer friend who does not start any project for less than 10k and hes always busy..

Try to master yourself some PHP and get on to Wordpress, Joomla, Shopify, Magento etc.... which require less programming skills

You are not earning anything because you don't believe in yourself. You deny the knowledge you have, blocking yourself for learning more.

And it is not the money you should be going after, but your inner self, keen for bigger things that will change your life/the lives of the people around you.
The money are the reward for those actions. Nothing more...

I have a similar problem, I was taking computer science in school and realized it's very saturated, indians over seas will get hired on visas over Americans etc. There were many reasons why I decided not to drop out. I'm now working at Walmart until I figure something out.

It seems that you're just creating self doubt and not valuing your own time and skills, which employers will absolutely take advantage of and underpay you and crack the whip for hours on end. (Hell, you'd probably do it in your shoes.)

You need to find a way to self brand yourself. Buy a cheap domain, make a portfolio of your creations, side gigs etc. Buy a logo on Fiverr that looks clean but represents your style well. But your attitude and self doubt is one of the early obstacles. Those that hire cheap labor overseas do it for the same reasons I said above. They're taking advantage of desperate people trying to break into the business. Once you specialize in something and brand yourself around it, companies will realize cheap disposable labor only takes them so far (Which is why you see so many companies desperate for specialists to basically fix the spaghetti code the noobs did.).

Personally I'd specialize in Marketing than coding, but that's me. I know someone personally who works as a consultant and senior programmer and definitely gets paid well.

Have you thought about going a totally different direction? I guess the advice you are asking should also be related to the development, but whatever you learn will be connected with the algorithms. Maybe you should start checking the design related jobs? What do you think about it?
