Free .co.uk & .uk Domains

So I was looking for a cheap registrar for multiple .com and .co.uk domains and found this offer from a UK company. Basically, you can get multiple .co.uk and .uk domains for FREE and .com domains for $1.99 which is great as most offers limit you to 1 x .com at sale prices.

You can't buy a .UK unless you own the .com or similar, and owned it before 2014. They are only open for sale later on in the year.

I managed to do just that 10 minutes ago. In fact it was an expired .uk domain with links from Guardian.com and several other big sites.

Double checked it on nominet whois and yep, its mine now...

Tried to register a "free" .uk and had 1GBP taken from my card - did this happen to you also OP? I'm now seeing the same screen the previous member posted. Something shady going down with this site or what?

All of mine went straight through, no delays, no issue. The only thing I had to do was confirm the .coms with ICANN via email (link click), the .co.uk and .uk domains went straight through and I could see them in the account control panel, change the name servers and set the domains up with my normal host. All good.

Charged when I got the .coms on the 1st account (8 x $1.99), not charged on the 2nd account for the .uk and .co.uk's, went straight through to the control panel, no holds for me.

I managed to buy one the other day. They refunded my money a few days later. However I'm not sure on the situation if they are actually expired.

Just grabbed a free .co.uk, and everything went through smoothly.

$1 being charged is very common, as a means of verification by a considerable amount of payment processors. It'd be refunded to you eventually within a month.

Seems like they are trying to go for a more new age, almost popup-esque vibe. Personally, I think they are just trying to increase the size of the available pool.

Yep I do this on my free trials as it's the only way in stripe to run the fraud checks properly. Auth charge. Some banks show it, some don't.

It is definitely all about trust. I am still inclined to buy .co.uk given the choice, though there will be some juicy .uk names available. I only registered 1 x .uk but it is a cracker with great backlinks.

To be honest, i didn't realise any .UK domains would have back links as they're so new!
