I've spent a lot of time pondering the idea of building my Instagram following to drive sales for my Shopify store, I don't want to risk being banned, so I choose not to use botting methods.

I have looked into Instagram Ad's to drive people to my profile page, in the hope they follow me or at least visit my site.

do any of you guys use this technique? what's the pros/cons? and do you find it cost effective?

thanks in advance for your input

there's so much discussion here regarding the black hat methods of getting followers, but not that much discussion on the paid ad's approach, really hoping some people who already use this approach could chime in with their experiences/advice.

If you pay one for ad's on instagram you'll never get back a proper organic reach. Just my opinion and experience.

so you think follow/unfollow would be better long term?

I can see how its easy to get followers on babes or fortnight accounts, but on an ecommerce page it seems difficult.

IMO consistency is key. Followers don't buy anything - you need real fans. Better 10 fans then 100 followers.

Running paid IG/FB ads will flag your account as business account, that will cause less organic reach since IG want you to pay them to get your exposure

Well, I guess I am the exception. I use Instagram ads and my viral pictures are still getting pretty good results.

And agreed, unfortunately there isn’t much talk about Instagram ads. I am in the same situation: just strarted a new brand and don’t want to get banned.

No luck with the ads so far...

in the olden days coke cola tried the same way but never worked cost millions .

best advertising word via mouth .

blog review and plr .

False claim, based on my tests this isn't true. Point me to the case study where you've got those info?

Instagram Ads are an amazing thing to get overall exposure, awareness, and sales/leads, but for generating followers they are poor (of course depends on your ad for sure). For getting more followers, shoutouts are way better with proper marketing idea for adset :)

Thanks man!, care to elaborate on the "no luck so far" have you calculated how much u spend per follower? do your ads take people to your insta profile or to your shop?

social advertising doesn't work because coke cola tried it in the 1800's?

So you think it's better to try drive sales directly and just hope to gain some low amount of followers as a bi-product of my ads?

I work with ads and traffic on a daily basis - if you want to run ads with the idea to drive traffic to your store and make sales use display advertising for your needs. Instagram won't bring you many followers and most probably very few sales. You won't get ROI. Instagram ads are good (more like okay) for brand awareness. With display ads you can target your potential customer by many different ways ensuring you got sales and good ROI. You can also look at Facebook ads.

IMO sending people to your profile is a good way to get followers when you are promoting a giveaway (or a really good viral post). Giveaway with an ad is a pretty good combination, just don’t use too much text on your picture.

But for average pictures sending people to the shop is way better. More chance for sales, especially if you them discounts and use hurrify apps :D

IG ads are best for promoting stuff's because they have more conversion rates as compared to any other ads. but it all depends on what you target ( more narrow audience = more conversion )

and when you place ad make sure to use a Facebook pixel on your store so that you can target those who visit your store but didn't buy from you
