In your opinion what would be the best simple IM method for a complete beginner, with getting my foot on the ladder more than anything. A point to learn from. I’ve mostly been involved with spread betting and the AIM and am completely new to IM.

Any help would be appreciated.

I would start with a small niche website that you are already knowledgeable about. Read the guides in here and the guides in moz, semrush and ahrefs. Learn about targetting long tail keywords, learn about backlinks, learn about how to optimize content for SEO, build up social media accounts. There is a TON of info here and the best way to learn is by applying it yourself and learning what works best and what doesn't. SEO is a long game, with long term dedication required and long term benefits to pick up.

The skills you get in learning about ranking your OWN website are immeasurable tbh. And it will help you to pick up marketable skills that can take you further.

Agree with Flacko. If you are starting out find a niche within a niche (one that can pay) and write a lot about it. Stick with something you know about or are passionate about at first, or you’ll probably lose interest and jump from one shiny object to the next.

Write as much as you can - and learn about on-page optimisation for content and try build a social presence.. then once it’s gathered a little bit of age/activity start building good links - which is much easier to do when you have well presented and well written information

The best blogging tip I read was take the subset of things you like to talk that your mates like to listen to you talk about.
Also think about blogging first on medium.com as way easier to build the initial audience and see what sticks.

Also given you've got a job and and £, think about using a offshore VA to scale once you've got a recipe.

I am a Designer and i came here to raise money but within a short time period i realized that the knowledge i can gain using this forum is immense.

if i may offer a little tip.
most people reply 2/4 times in there intro thread
then move onto the main forum, 13 times is
over doing it just a little.

if you look down the intro section most threads
have 1/5 replys on average , but non have 37

This sounds like really solid advice from Flacko.
I've actually been thinking of this niche website idea alot recently. I can build wordpress sites and social traffic but I have no idea about SEO. I imagine its getting harder to compete with google ads?
