A Newbies First Journey (Amazon Affiliate)

Im very new on here and I've spent quite some time reading various articles and posts on here.

I've decided to start doing my own journey as mainly, it's a community so seems like a logical thing to do to hopefully interact and learn further, also, If I do fail at any point, what better way to look back and see where you've gone wrong then on your own journey!

My Journey is to reach 500USD P/M within 8 Months through a niche website using An affiliate only. This technique which I have done is completely using the method used by Meathead1234 in his 1000/m journey, I would provide a link but as im new im not currently able to, I will in the comments once allowed. Just on a personal note thanks for writing that journey, speaking as a nice it's incredibly understandable and helpful.

Just to clarify I am the Oxford dictionary definition of a Newbie. So anyone more experienced probably won't learn much (if anything) from me, Just so there's no early raised expectation from me here.

Im learning on the job, but I do feel like I've got a general grasp of the principals and methodology involved (Hopefully)

My Background is in no way IM related, im actually a roofer from the UK, but this is something which has always been a dream of mine. I have a young family and I want to be able to spend more time with them and I want to travel, our family goal is to one day move to canada! that's a different story.

so back to the site

AS THINGS STAND
-domain and hosting purchased
-Basic blog style website created
-Pillar article + 6 Articles (around 11k words in total ) Completed and uploaded

-Basic keyword research done
-Relevant Plugins installed
-Optimized articles for keywords with yoast
- around 5 forum accounts created within my niche and began answering and asking Q&A

-social profile created and active

If there's anything there I haven't elaborated on enough let me know.

MY NEXT STEPS
I've been struggling a little bit with the forums and so on. It seems to be a talent in itself finding the best places to go, so I've contacted someone to look at getting that done for me, im thinking if they could get 30 good comments out there in the right places this would help massively! I have been attempting to build the social presence manually, as I can target my audience more and hopefully improve future traffic. I need to get started on my other social media accounts but the more I read on here the more it seems I should be spending this time focusing on creating more good quality content than looking at traffic yet. So a lot of my time will be spent on writing more articles and at the least doubling my word count over the next week.

In terms of cost so far:
setting up site: 75GBP (so around 100USD)

Hiring someone to create 30 Niche comments: 25GBP (33USD)

Total: 100 GBP (133USD)

As I said my site is live, currently no traffic to mention but it has only been live for a few days so that's neither here nor there.

Any info. I've missed out anyone please ask, my best hope would be that this forum could be a place for newbies to bounce ideas and help each other through the early days, anyone experienced who could contribute wouldn't be expected but would be hugely appreciated

A Little update, I've got 1 more article written, and i have targeted 2 long tail keywords which have a fairly low difficulty, so I will be writing these next. I've also just spent some time doing some tweaking on the site, optimzing KW and so on. Its a strange feeling putting so much time. effort and thought in to a project and in the back of your head having that constant thought of 'Am I even doing this right?' and 'What If i put the effort in and know one even looks twice'. I suppose thats the risk involved with attempting complete self-sufficiency and dependency.

In non-IM Related i've developed an issue with my back through my day job. Unfortunately it looks like it may limit my shelf life as a roofer so my necessity to succeed in IM has greatly increased, I may have to look at outsourcing some elements I was planning on attempting manually in order to speed up incase I am unable to continue day job earlier than expected.

I have 4 money articles each averaging about 2,500 - 4,500 which I wrote myself, which took me agessss. I like writing but get bored so quickly.

In terms of what is reasonable, check the top 10 pages on the SERP and see how many words/content they have. I use this site to check word count and then do more than this, making sure it's much better.

I've got 1 pillar at around 2k and 7 Articles around 1-1.5k. From what I've read it seems like im still way behind a good amount to have.

My problem is I procrastinate way too much!

I've tried doing some forums and Q&A websites to start getting traffic myself but I have a slight feeling that I may be pissing in the wind

nowhere at the minute haha. im going to improve the readability and shoehorn a couple of images in for some more KW to start, just doing a bit of reading now on looking at more in-depth strategies.

This is the problem! if time could accommodate around me then I'd be fine Coming into summer aswell so I'll be out on day job for longer days soon aswell, more reason to crack on I suppose

Nope, I've been answering alot of quora questions to start, gone round all the forums I can find and was happy with what I wrote but nothing early. I Think in hindsight my niche is something people aren't particularly passionate about. its in the cleaning Sector and that seems to be growing at the minute though so im hoping to get dragged with it somewhere along the line.

Im still planning on hiring someone to do the comments and things, I was adamant I'd do it originally but id hate to just get it wrong.

I am planning on contacting some other blogs in my niche and doing a 'best of the rest type article, try and persuade them to give me something in return.

What is your marketing thoughts with your site?
