Is Instagram removing followers?

So according to this tweet, it is only the number showing that is different - followers have not been removed - supposedly...

I see two different numbers depending on which account I'm logged in as.

Same here, depends on each account I watch it from numbers are different. Also thought I lost thousands of followers. I ask some people to check on their phone and they see the higher number. Also Databases show the same. So they should fix it soon as followers are still here.

They said it's a "Bug" but really they did a wipe on spam accounts
