So recently I read that eBook about domain flipping ("Domain*Riches", floats around this forum as rs download). I thought "why not", tried the methods and tools described in this eBook. I picked up 5 domains for the beginning, and registered it at namecheap. With a coupon it was not even 45 bucks. (Also do I live in an european country and it even gets cheaper because the weak $/strong €).

I didnt had an ebay account yet, and I still wait for mail from ebay. So I just thought I try my luck on other auctions sites, and bang.. one domain sold for 149$. I had my investments back + ~90$. I worked about an hour for that. Of course this is not ground breaking, but good to see that it works and that I can put some time in it every day. And 4 domains are still left, wich i will sell on eBay when I am finally a member.

I just didnt thought it was that easy. And now I make my life even easier with a tool combining all the steps in the ebook in one program. Work less make more .

So, try it, take action. Invest a little bit money, and if you are smart enough picking good domain names it comes back with profit.

Uhm, I dont want to reveal my other username, but you guys already got the drift that it was one of the bigger sites where you can sell domains and stuff I really dont think it depends on the site, as long as you have some charming domain name.

what software tool Have you added to speed things up?

Wrote something for my own, nothing fancy. Get domain names, filter out possibly good ones, check if available for registering, output list to review.

I can attest to this by all means .... as you will find several posts I have chimed in on at BHW about domains. I have quite a few. I get offers all the time and usually decline. Last one sold was in January for a few thousand. Although my primary interest is not at all to flip them. This is because they are worth much more to me ... to build out and get long term money.

No, need to elaborate there - I will spare you the details.

Here is the deal. If you want to flip just brainstorm ...

Use your own creativity in general fields of interest or industries. I don't want to hold your hand just yet ....because, who knows - I am leaving open the opportunity that I might put something thorough together with tools and techniques...vids - etc.

But I will tell you this is easy. You can register with the cheapest out there... like netfirms*com @ $5.95 per .com - the lowest around ....bar none (its promotion for only 5 names at a time at that price ---"per account" )

Next in line is 1&1 and 7.77 for .com ...

Okay ..so come up with short 2 word 2 syllable combinations... why?? because they are short and still catchy.

Shorter the better... if you have too many syllables or lengthy words it does not make a short sale popular although it may still have value. An idea of this concept ...and of course I am going to use a good one .... I would say something like namecheap

Yes, I am using that as an example as a two word - two syllable combination. Before you start telling me that you wouldn't find something like that, look at it for what it was ... not what it currently is.

I have gotten and continually get several names use this as only one of several techniques I use. I have many techniques because I know what I am doing ..and overall what I am trying to achieve be it a popular industry or something I am taking a hunch on industry growth for.

That should serve as a building block for some of you guys that might be interested. I might be inclined to give up a few other methods but not so fast.

Almost ANY name with a little creativity can easily fetch (at minimal) $60 vs. your maximum $8 invest. Almost a whopping 800% return. In most cases the standard price seems to be $100 that people offer.

Use in many different ways to sell:

Sedo or other parking that offer inquiry.
Other acution site such as tdnam (go*daddy's domain aftermarket)
Or even ebay if they still promote.

This is a name only technique. If you want more money -- throw up a cheap site with hosting and a 'free' forum software. (they exist). If you make it look more appealing for very little time and effort you will get a greater return.

So your thinking how long does all this take? It depends. Could be days, weeks or even months. But this is something you can autopilot unless you want to aggressively and actively sell.

My advice: Take $100 bucks or what you can afford, buy some names and let sit with some of the methods listed above or your own. (.com's still yield the highest and are most sought after. don't wast your time with others for this technique) ... yes, others have value ...but why waste your time? Get the .com you got the gold.

If I did this all day everyday... I could probably daily make $60 per name I buy and I would probably sell mine within a few days. But that's really of no interest to me.

Research some hot industries and come up with your own names and combinations.

I spent several years as a Creative Director building and branding companies. But the naming (and coming up with good names) is really something anyone can do that just uses their own creativity.

I appreciate you folks sharing. I've looked into this many times, but whenever you do a search on the various aftermarket domain re-sale places the large bulk of the listings all have zero/0 bids. It seems there is a MAJOR glut of domains, and not many buyers - even on two word, no-hyphen older .com domains.

Is it more a matter of selling many for a few bucks on forums like namepro's, than it is listing older .com's on the auction houses hoping to make some good money?

Designer -- I appreciate your post, very helpful. I have thousands of great domain ideas written down. And I try to register some of them every week.

Being a super creative individual I can't stop getting ideas for them. Everywhere I go I think of domains. I end up with a ton of little scraps of paper on my desk.

I know that the .com domains are the best. But, if you uncover a really good domain that nobody has yet should you go for any of the other extensions? Which extensions besides .com are the best?

I think it depends on a good name and luck. As you see in the domain*riches ebook the guy sold, for example, 9 domains for 475$. 3 domains selled under the register price, 4 barely cover the register price and only 2 made cash.
To sum it up, keep it rolling. Try it 9 times, have 2 times luck. That cover up all registration costs and bring you profit.

Btw, today i start selling at ebay, wish me luck.
