good luck OP with your journey... im also doing some website/blog and im starting it with wordpress i know its a steep climb but we can do it... baby steps could lead to long ways...

You must to have a kick ass looking theme so people find dit pro,
After Theme make nice logo, there are free logo site out there, search! Favicon as well!
You with blogger so get that free SSL from them,
Search what categories you should put on your blog! look at what others doing on the same niche and go from there!

Keep up the good work! Getting your website online is the first huge step, now you just need to stay focused and keep adding content to it all the time! I have made lots of websites and got them online, and then just let them sit and eventually expire, and I really regret it. The longer you keep your website going, the better Google will love it!
