VP would sound a little bit odd since DBA is the simplest and the most inexpensive method of opening a business under a fictitious name, and usually most dbas are ran by a single person. Just tell them you are some guy in charge of marketing. That should do the trick.

Can anyone please explain the last (previous) three posts? I don't really understand and I'm from the UK. I mainly don't get this part:

I assuming your talking about the CPA Application? If not do NOT put a fake name on any LLC filing forms lol but yea on the application but some bogus name and call them the VP and just call as them. The checks go out to the company name so it doesnt matter.

Does this mean I can put a bogus name on a CPA application form? What will happen if they find out? What's a VP? Who do you call a VP? Can I get screwed if I put bogus name on CPA application form? What if the CPA company want's to verify that the bogus person is real and want a copy of passport? Or they find out that it's a bogus name and inform the authorities? Help!

Tennessee does not require registration or filing of DBAs or fictitious names for sole proprietorships and general partnerships. Corporations, LLCs, LLPs, and limited partnerships register an assumed name as part of their required business filings with the Tennessee Secretary of State.

Can anyone explain to me what is means? Can I just get a EIN in any name I want and my state doesnt require it to be registered?

OMG some of you people should f**king :AR15firin shoot yourself for your stupidness, there are so many threads about LLC companies and EIN's just use the search function. I myself have asked a few questions but I'm actually asking for something that I can't find or at least can't easily find an answer to in BHW because of the fact I'm from the UK so different things apply to me. But you kind of people start to piss me of now and for f**k sakes should really consider shooting yourself for your stupidness.

Look if you cant figure it out, it might be best you let a lawyer or someone like that handle it. There is a few websites that will fill it out and prepare it for you. Like LegalZoom, it cost 99 for a DBA...little high...

I don't think so. "draw up a basic partnership agreement then open an acct"?? In a US bank? Sadly, no.

Last time I opened a bank acct for a business I showed up with all my corp paperwork etc. They didn't want it: they only wanted the biz name and address that I registered. Then they brought it up on the computer, all account-related forms were filled out by the data they had. Even if I WANTED to hand them some "partnership agreement" or the other 10 lbs of paper I took with me to the bank, they wouldn't have needed it or even looked at it. Once you file the state/fed paperwork the banking system has access to it and will use it to confirm or deny your biz entity.

Think about it. If you're pulled over by a cop who says that your ID isn't in the system, would he care that you have a pocket full of paper that says you're legit? No. It's a bit of a pain in the butt, but do it the right way if you want EINs etc. They're easy to get, hard to maintain, but legit all the way
