Learn to crawl before you ball: A technique mother nature knows very well.
I am sure this had been said before but here is a learning approach that can work very well for a stumbling (extra emphasis) newbie and it can save you a lot of money. I am speaking from experience of not having done this at first. And later doing this right.
If you're learning SEO, focus on one easy keyword only and see if you can rank it #1. And I would start with a very easy keyword.. One whose allintitle (google search operator) page results are less than 10.
It's very important that you can rank that keyword #1 before you move onto a new method. Don't get distracted. Everything you learn (anywhere) should be to make sure that you can rank uno for that keyword.
After you do that, I would repeat that 100 times. And now you have mastered an easy keyword ranking method and know you have an edge at something. And you also likely have a revenue-generating site at this point. Now move on to a more competitive keyword.
