Well, I've dealt with many hosting companies in the past three years. By far, Hostwinds is the most chaotic company I've ever seen.

I chose a hosting package with their "new offers," only to find out that the hosting was only meant for a couple of days, and that I actually paid for backups. Well, that might be my mistake for not unchecking the box.

However, two days later, I open my bank account and I find out that they charged my another $9 for a month that I already paid for. I tried to communicate with their customer service, but all they say is nonsense.

I'm ordering a cancellation and a refund, but, seeing how they go about their business, I don't think I'll get my money back. Either way, stay away from this fking "company."

Yes, exactly.

I had a good experience with hostwinds, far from being the worst hosting company.

That's just only one thing that I'm complaining about, and I explained it.
However, they're promoting a discount that's not real.

Currently working with hostwinds.
Gotta say, I didn't face any problems, they even helped me to migrate my email data...
However, they're far away from being a great company. They're decent, but if you're looking for an incredible hosting service, I'll recommend Siteground. So far, the best company I've ever dealt with!

Are you a new customer? They do 60 day money back no questions asked.
I noticed when you go to buy a package, the "cloud backup for +$x/month" is automatically checked on there. You forgot to uncheck it, you can't blame them for getting your order wrong.
Lesson learned. Pay more attention on checkout process. Read all fine print texts and upsells carefully. Once you do that there will never be surprises. Most hosts do this in one form or another, especially on "new deals".
In my experience they are a good host. I used them and sold for their affiliate program with no complaints.

I`ve been using them for two months, generic stuff and not worth pennies.

To cancel the plan, you must bring parents, and if you have a dog present as well, I think they will do retina scan as well on future.
Their live chat is like a teenager on www; when I ask him about some standard stuff about their mailer ports was a grey shadow in the air.

Also, the price is high for no reason.

It`s less than an average hosting company if you can call them a company.

I got a VPS with them and my server was stuck in shutting down mode for 9 hours i raised a support ticket and i didnt even get a reply until the next day,
funny how they got someone on live chat 24/7 on their website ready to answer your questions and take you over the line to purchase their products
but it takes them 12 hours to get back to a support ticket, this just reminded me to migrate my services elsewhere

I assume contacting @Hostwinds is useless since he's been here last time more than a month ago.

Thank you.
See how they replied to my ticket, because I said I'll talk about this on BHW.

Dude, I really don't need the measly $9. This just shows how they're willing to treat their frustrated clients. I reached out complaining about something, and this is their response. I remember at HasteHosting, they once delayed my order because they needed to process the payment manually. They gave me a free month when I reached out to inquire about the situation.

Well, we live and learn... and share. :)

Yeah im switching away just don't know what other host to go with for my money sites. I've been using hostwinds since 2012-2013. And ive had multiple bad experiences with them.

I used them a long time ago, once you got a little load of traffic they will start forcing you to move to VPS.
My hosting was Business-Ultimate and I know that with my visitors and blog it can handle that kind of hosting, but it seems they are greedy...

Switched to a2hosting and no problems so far, they are kinda expensive but i will never go with cheap hosting anymore.

I had a terrible experience with trying to get a vps with hostwinds, it was so bad I ended up putting off buying a vps at all even from anywhere for months.

I don't even want to think about how bad it was, I'm not even going to talk about it.

Whenever I read a complaint saying things in a way like this I always disregard it as the user/customer is just a retard, but I can assure you this was all on them and very poor set of procedures and communication on their part, disgusting.

I finally went to buy a VPS from somewhere else about 4 months later, I picked severhosh instead and I thought it would be the same kind of thing so prepared myself for it, turns out I just pay and get it no hassle, been with them now for 2 years.

Cant believe how bad hostwinds treated me and I dont even understand it to this day :(

I recommend services like digitalocean, you can utilize their prebuilt server images. Haven't looked back since.

Well, someone reached out to me from the company on Skype. He was decent, and apologized for the incident. They refunded my two invoices, cancelled my package, and said they'll add account credits for an extra month as a compensation. No credits were added, but it doesn't matter. At least they're now aware of how their customers should be treated.

Hostwinds is a sh*t company. Was bugging me for upgrading plan to VPS while the site has very small traffic and it’s just a spike. They kept sending me the same warning every now and then until I moved everything to Namecheap and never look back.

Also their price is fcking expensive compared to the big leagues.

DO NOT use them!
