How does google detect popunders and how I will affected?

I tried some popunders with custom script on one of my websites and got 0 issues.

I've seen google detects popunders, but how?

They own Google Chrome. Telemetrics are sent to their server farm.

Also, their spiders could probably just do it anyway. JS code is normally from examples and they just have to compare what your JS code to JS code in their database.

Yeah, but how exactly do they figure out? It's not like because a new popup opens is a popunder. Right?

I have obfuscated code so they might need to actually run that code and then also do the action to see there is a popunder, which I doubt they will do this.

But any other ideas?

They have the most sophisticated crawler human can make. Don't doubt them. It's pretty for them to render your site and figure out your popunder redirect to an advertisement. Obfuscating code may be pain for humans, but robots are robots. They can just process the code like any browser would.

Hum, so how long do you think it will take them to figure out? Also what if you need to submit a form before you access the page with popunder?

Its only a matter of time before Chrome starts detecting popups/popunders that are bypassing their ad blocker. Where the popunder is called doesn't matter if it using anti-adblock (obfuscated code). The key is to call a popup that is user generated. The problem with most popups/popunders is they are often called from a server and not by the user. Hence they may work now, but could be blocked in the future. Worse, your site could get an abuse flag from Google.

Take a look at this example of a working popunder/tabunder. No obfuscated code is used.

I think as long as the popup (window or tab) is generated by a user click, it shouldn't be a problem. At least for now.
