As we know the IG algorithm is always changing. Now looking back on my 2018 post, not much has changed.

But here's what I've heard from connected people I network with on this subject;
-
Engagement Groups/Pods still aren't working to well. The patterns are easily identifiable by the algorithm. That means either ceasing their use, or being distinct on not leaving a clear footprint.

Automating/Botting will be harder than ever. Be keen on developing smarter strategies surrounding this going forward.

Powerlikes can be risky. Again, with having the same accounts liking your posts over and over = patterns.

What else have you guys noticed as of late?

I just noticed today that people that interact with me a lot, sending me dms, liking and commenting, that follow me but I don't follow keep appearing on my explore page even though they are really small (<1K).

Think about that and act consequently.

Hmm, that's an interesting finding. And worth giving at least some attention to.

Engagement drop - that's what happen to may account, starting december 31 2018

I’m hitting the explore page every single day right now, from a tiny account too. Think I might have found a few secrets haha. All that I will say is make sure you focus on posting eye catching content that isn’t overly repetitive amongst other accounts in your niche.

Definitely. You always want to standout from the competition. At the same time focusing on really engaging stuff.

Do you use bots or anything? Engagement groups/pods?

Did you guys see any difference with using hashtags on caption or first comment?

Posts getting deleted by Instagram very often on accounts recently.

I only know followers drop , but I see kinda mostly are those followers I used to buy , some still retain despite daily drop . but daily still got some new followers . i never follow back . I used to use auto like but now never See how it go , Now I manually like post switch 3 accounts yes is tired but still ok if sometimes want to take a rest from computer , check some stuffs on mobile , thus on the same time just like some post.

Just out of curiosity, Why do you guys thinks botting is getting harder and harder? Also are we talking on a small scale or larger scale with a lot of accounts?

Why? Quite simply because the platforms don't like, not support the use of bots. User experience is one of the key factors of maintaining a platform. It UX is low, then daily usage will decrease which = a big no no to the company.

Where does the engagement pod's part come from. Have several accounts in place growing like hell with the right content + engagement groups.

For account shepherds the new algorithm is a huge problem but for individuals it is not been so bad (except for old account with accumulated following as there is a lot of genuine "dead" accounts following you).
I understand the logic of the new algorithm and i approve it as good as it feels like work of an A.I. Currently the algorithm is being harsh and does not take into account that even with genuine accounts there is the chance that the follower stops using the platform THUS worsening you'r engagement rate THUS making you drop in visibility.

Only solution i could have caught on this is that you manually go through you'r followers for non-active ones that have not been posting photos in a while (or if someone can make an bot for this it would be awesome).
It should boost your engagement rate to make you'r posts pop visible but it's f*cking stupid to have to do this thing and very counter-intuitive. Never heard of removing followers to gain more followers lmao.
