Huge engagement drop after 2019 started

Nah, there's no way that's it. from 35k likes to 5k is a bit rough, there's no way there's that many hangovers.

It has been happening since Instagram changed from chronological timeline to their algorithm. It is just a matter of time before an account gets hit with the changes.

Yeah I'm 100% positive that the engagement drop is due to a algorithm change more than 2 years ago. It's like someone asking about their site dissapearing from
first page of google and you say it's the Panda update that finally got them.

What I thought too. But then I went back one year to check up on my stats. And no, the same thing did NOT happen last year. In fact, I had better engagement over New Year in 2017/18 than my average engagement at the time.

Instead, I believe something has been changed in the algorithm. Yet, these things happen from time to time, and it does not mean it is the "new reality". As an example, my engagement has somewhat recovered the last two days compared to the days around New Year 2018/2019. What is noticeable is WHEN I get the engagement. Until December 30, I used to get somewhere between 3000-4000 likes in the first hour. Now, I get maximum 2000. The same pattern is shown for the comments. However, when the posts have been active for a few hours, they seem to regain strength and almost end up on the same level anyway indicating that the distribution of likes and comments is different in terms of time.

NB: My account is grown organically.

the problem is it started way before that date...full of shit is that info from where you got it.
