Is there a pirated version of Ahrefs anywhere? $170 a month seems a bit extortionate, how do people make money buying all these tools with a monthly cost?

It's web based, so no.

You make money by not chasing $10 at a time. Charge your clients hundreds or thousands of dollars per month and a hundred bucks a month doesn't seem so much.

Its online only (website) so cannot be pirated. Sign up for a trial for a few $'s or use a group buy for $20 or less per month. Tons of posts on BHW about group buy accounts. I did that for a while, got tons of logins, when they become limited after the trial ends, they are still decent for a few checks per day. If you have 20+ you are good to go without the full account or group buy.

Might help save the pennies.

Well, it's not much when you got a couple clients but you can use the $7 trial and use the fuck out of it and repeat that process, that's the way I did it :D

I agree, but for people who are building their own website and not currently profiting, feels extortionate, probably going to use the 7 day trial and abuse the fuck out of it, thanks :)

To make money you have to spend money

I'm not at the point where I can afford any of these nice tools yet either. For Keyword research I use kwfinder, you can do 5 detailed albeit small samples (50 I believe) for free each day. For rank checking and monitoring I use serposcope which is also free and actually quite good. I'm tracking many keywords so I added a list of free sock5 proxies which I found online and I added a couple bucks to a captcha site which will solve the captchas if I get any. So all in all the total cost is about $2 . For backlink checking I use Moz, it's also free. it's not the most advanced stuff but I can't complain :p

if you know how to use it it will bring you much more money than u spent on it

I agree, you spend money to make money thats how it goes my friend.. Goodluck I would start with the $7 trial

You can not find it for free. Use the 7$ trial rinse and repeat if you are struggling that hard, but if you charge your clients a fair amount for what you do you can easily pay the subscription.
