10,000+ Subscribers eMail List = $0 from it

Hi guys,

I was looking for the right place to ask for help regarding an email list I have with 10,000+ subscribers.

PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF THIS IS NOT THE RIGHT SECTION FOR THIS THREAD!

I've never tried to make money from it cause I've been busy whit h other projects, but now it's time to make it profitable or to get rid of it cause I'm paying $150/Mo in Aweber just for having this list sitting there over the years...

The problem is that I've built this list over a period of 5-6 years and besides the welcome and the download link email I've never email this list, ever!

I would like to know what would you guys do in this case. I'm afraid that if I just sudenly start emailing this list, even if I just give FREE content at first, I will have a massive spam report and unsubscribing sunamy that would end up with my Aweber account to be shut down since the list is in the sexual education niche.

I was also thinking about using this list to create a "lookalike" audience on facebook and advertise to it, but I'm not sure if facebook allows sexual education advertising...

If this is not the right seccion, please someone point me in the right direction so some fellows can give me ideas about what to do whith this list.

First, these 10 k subscribers are your OWN opted, right? Or you bought this email list?

Second, if these are "confirmed" opted in the sexual education niche and you send them sexual education content, I don't think you are gonna get reported because these people opted in the sexual education niche which means they are interested in the subject.

Personally, I would email your list and treat them like old friends you neglected.

If you're really worried about your aweber account I would suggest using a cheap alternative to "test" your subscription list. I personally like sendy.co. Check them out, they are the cheapest alternatives to aweber, convert kit, and the like. The downfall is you have to be technical enough to set it up on a server.

If you need help PM ME. I set one up the other week and also I got suspended from AWS since they have a minimum bounce rate. This can easily be lifted, though.

Once you get that set up, you can email your list and say "Hey, we've been going through a lot of changes and blah blah blah but we're back full force now. Would you like to keep your subscription? Here's our latest on .... etc"

Yes, I built the list myself (confirmed opted), however, as I said before, it is an old list, it means some of the subscribers subscribed 5-6 years ago and may not remember or be interested in the subject anymore, so many of them may feel uncomfortable with sexual education information now, that's one of my concerns.

Problem is, they don't trust you and probably forgot who the fuck you are...

If someone emailed me from 5-6 years ago asking me to buy something, I'd straight up mark it as spam.

Leads are useless after 6months, mostly...

I'd cut out any leads after 6 months and just mail to those who have been on your list in the last 6 months. Even then if you haven't mailed them in the first few days of signing up with a solid followup sequence, they probably forgotten who you are as well.

Setup a proper followup sequence for the new guys signing up, or consider mailing the old list to a new free offer of yours and get them in a fresh followup sequence (weeks) and build up your reputation and their trust in you, then they will buy from you.

This is exactly what I was thinking. Using a cheap alternative to Aweber, apologize for not emailing them before and start offering free content for 2 or 3 weeks, many will unsubscribe but other will stay, and then work with those that stay.

I afraid I will lose the Aweber account where I have other email lists, so I will analyze the alternative you gave me. However, I have not technical skills.

Anyway, before I make a decision, I will wait and see if I get any other tips from other users before I make a decision.

I will let you know once I decide which way to go.

I totally agree with you, that's exactly what I think...

The new free offer to get them into a new fresh list is a great idea. I will definitively do that

However, I still need a cheap alternative to Aweber that not require any technical skill. Any tip will be welcome.
