PBN - Link Position on Homepage

I read somewhere that a link from top frame of the PBN homepage gives more power than sidebar, and footer is the least desirable position. If you own your own PBN, where is the best place for a link to your money site:

1. top frame?
2. side bars?
3. as part of an article on homepage?

also, what do you think about creating an advertising banner on top frame and having it placed on all of your pages in that PBN? this way you would get a backlink from all pages. thoughts?

You are right: Google became a pretty much sophisticated evaluator of every link's value. And the position of a link on page is important.

If your goal is giving more value to your money site, then you should place link
1. in header or menu
2. in the homepage main text

Also make sure that your links are easy to distinguish from background, that they are highlighted and have higher-than-average size.

A backlink from all pages is called a sitewide link. Yeah, that's one of the strongest options.

BUT. Never forget about diversification. You simply can't place all links in the same way from menu because it's a huge footprint.

I sincerely believe that answer is yes.

While a single header link may be equal to main text link, a sitewide link should be stronger. Because all website's pages are sending a cote to your target property.

edit: Also don't forget about redirect option.

Random surfer model is way outdated and has practically nothing to do with the algorithm that’s currently in place. It is a variation of it, but definitely not the same thing.

Also, if putting a banner on your site as a side wide backlink (which is already suspicious) provided results, why does no one in competitive niches do it?

If “link visibility” I.e, not matching the background color are important - why so hacked links with position=-9999px still seemingly work fine?

You’re relying on an outdated document / patent to make these assumptions.

If you’re going to do homepage links, they should be placed in content (recommended), or, on the sidebar in a widget with a custom header etc (using widget context to avoid being a sitewide link).

Also, generally speaking, sitewide links are pure cancer and should be avoided.

The fact that you even have to ask this question shows you’re overthinking things way too much.

Just add the shit in random places... test different ways. Avoid boilerplate footer links. Not even saying they don’t work, it’s just not “best practice” to use them.

I'd avoid sitewide links. Like @blinggam said add the shit in random places

I have heard that Google gives more power to link above the fold, but I have no proof or testing so don't take my word

thanks for everyone for their input. i will run few tests, by pointing links to to sites on page 5+ for a random keyword and see the impact it has on their serp. will report back with my results.

He nailed the answer. Right now homepage contextual link is the safe option. 1 or 2 links on sidebar (s9tewide links) is safe from my experience.

man anything on a homepage is powerful enough. if it's at the top, big font size, bolded, it's going to be better... but also more dangerous and unnatural. woudn't worry about this man, that's for newbies

guys - i did 2 sets of tests across 2 of my own PBNs. Both resulted the same. I used exact match keyword across all of my tests

Menu based link provided the best result , much better than banner, sidebar, footer and part of the text on homepage.

interested if anyone else has done such a test and seen similar result?
