How long does it take you from zero to become financially indedepent?

Almost 10 years into IM and I am still grinding!!

Started with zero. But, not at zero position (at the moment). That said, not financially independent either. At one point, had somewhat enough. But re-investment led to a financial downpour.

I signed up BHW about 1 year ago. At that time I had no job, no money, I just dropped out of college. Now the main income come from my 9-5 job and chaturbate comission (around $200 a month). I have invested all the money into IM.

First try: Porn reupload, I have made $1000 until now. (I'm using revshare).
Second try: Dropshipping, I failed because I chose wrong product and I also did not have enough money to test the products + I listen to gurutard.
Third try: Blogging ( I have written 50 articles in the last 3 months, My Blog is growing good now).
Fourth try: I just registered a new web hosting (Hawhost) a few days ago. I'm going to build an amazon niche site + Porn Blog. Porn is not something new to me. In general, I focus on 3 things now (porn niche, mmo blog, niche site). I hope I will become financially independent in 2 years.

Investing all your money back into IM is not going to make you financially independent any time soon! Your better off being boring and sensible clear any debts, save up 3 months income and invest 10% of your income into IM. While continuing to save money.

Not having to go into debt to pay for life's little hiccups or unexpected costs (car, home repair, etc) is financial independence.

Around 5K a month. Internet marketing income tends to change every month so making around 5K a month is more than enough to live a comfortable life.

I had an accountant who deals with the currency exchange and stuff, she is a Chinese lady whom I worked with for 4 years, she pays off the salaries and collect payments for me. In August, we had around 15k USD coming into the account and she took all the money including the money in my accounts, thats around 22k USD in total. I called the police and everything, the police in China does not know English and either was giving an effort to help at all. The reason from the police was: no evidence of the lady borrowing/lending/ taken you money and not coming back. Then I had to pay off around 10k of debts myself and luckily I just paid them all off before xmas.

That's totally your fault for getting yourself into such a vulnerable position. How could you trust people you can't very easily go after with your bank account? How can you trust anyone with your bank account actually. Take it as an expensive education lesson and never do this again.

It's inspiring to real about all those stories on here. I hope I can make it to full independance in 6mo or so (1.5k per mo) ideally. I will try multiple path and just push through!

I cant agree with this more, I treated that as a second business and rely too much as well as on the same person. I hope after people reading this will never follow my path again.

Just a quick tip regarding on the bank account, you will need a Chinese ID to create a chinese bank account but I dont have it so it has to go through something else, it a bit complicated and I had to pay off some chinese freelancers that was why I kept that money in China, I think its the best to keep them with different accountants instead

I think many of you are confusing "working for yourself" or "digital nomad" with "financial independence". Financial independence "means you have enough wealth to live on without working." If you're grinding away at sites, or are dependent on Amazon to dole out affiliate income, you are not financially independent. You may not have a boss to answer to, and you may be able to travel the world, but you have customers (ie website visitors, clients, or whatever) who you must please.

Even if you love what you do, are 90% passive, only work 10 hours a week, etc etc... that's not financial independence.

Financial independence is a 20-unit apartment that you own outright, make $30,000 a month on, pay a property manager, groundskeeper, maintenance guy and accountant half of that, have the property manager pay $5,000 in maintenance, and clear $10,000 a month profit without doing anything outside a few emails or phone calls each month, and checking over a report from each of the four.

Financial independence is $4 million stretched out across various index funds with a 3% annual withdrawal rate, making $12,000 a month doing literally nothing except cashing checks.

That is what we truly dream of. Being tied to your website and your traffic and your audience, and spending hours on end managing the processes is not financial independence.

IM allows you to diversify in so many ways that are not posible out there.
You can add several income streams.
I like the mixture of serving clients + stablishing my own asets here and there.
We'll remain in business as long as there are things to be sold.

Things were great for me before the crisis.
Then the crisis wiped out all of my belongings.
Fortunately I could find my way through the bits after 4 years and a lot of testing similar as yours.

And this I may say, has been the best comunity to learn from.

My requirements are even more strict.
Majority of income can't be from sources that someone can lose out on if they were to say something highly offensive. Income generated from apartment complexes could go away if owner were to say something that is offensive and people move out and is unable to attract new tenants. The house that one lives in has to be fully paid off and has enough solar or wind to fully power the house without needing connection to the grid.
