Trying to pick a domain name. Im I overthinking it?

Is there any criteria you follow to pick a domain name? I'm going to be using the domain for a affiliate website.

Some things I can think of:
-add keyword if you can
-not spammy looking
-.com is best option (im going for .com)
-no numbers

Any other tips?

Can I run my domain name by anyone?

Well you have covered most of the things that should be there in a SEO friendly domain name. Make sure when adding the keyword it should not be an exact match as it would then be the spammy looking as you already covered that point.
