So we all know social media as an element of our society today has many positive and negative affects on us.

I was watching a video the other day (which I've included at the bottom), and it made me think about how it affects us as social media marketers. Especially those that are aggressive with it like us, that build multiple accounts and work on this daily.

Do you ever find yourself irritable because of social media? How often do you check your posts performance, would you consider yourself obsessed with it?

What future do you see in society in relation to social media use overall?

i dont know , all I know is that i am broke and I need to work , I am on social media because I need to make money .

its part of the 2018 soft life style propaganda , worrying about psychology and your pussy lifestyle

your ancestors were miserable in the cold , getting all these sicknesses from viruses and diseases, kids used to die before they reached 10 , your ancestor used to travel miles to get some wood to warm the house ,and here we are in the pleasure of a nice and warm home in 2018 , speaking about the effects of instagram"

Social media isn't all negative. Was just trying to spur a conversation. No need to be butthurt bro.

I stopped using all forms of social media about 6 years ago. It was depressing seeing everyone's highlight reel. It also made catching up with my friends less necessary, since I already knew what was going on in their lives. Been much happier since I deleted it all.

I know for a fact it has influenced the dating rates. Most of Instagram thots etc. are looking for validation from hungry 40-year-old virgins. Just take a look at how r/gonewild , you can even see the fattest bitches getting appreciation and mental masturbation, truly makes me feel sad about how the "man" is in our current society. Also, it kills young kids confidence because seeing how your friend got 300 likes but you only get 100 etc. sad shit for sad sacks of meat.

I stopped personally using social media back in like 2014. Social definitely hacks your brain if you're personally using it. Use it as a tool with a clear, quantifiable, real goal in mind. It's just a tool, discard it if it's not doing the job.

Well it makes me unable to leave my phone. I feel lost without it because it's such a big part of my life haha. That being said, I use it to check on friends and to make money/explore interests. I don't really post on it. For me, it's a gateway to a lot of things i'm interested in and sometimes just distracting content I need.

tldr: makes me stare at my screen all day

Yes especially when you're still building your life up seeing everyone's highlight reels make me feel shitty.

I think that social media affects our psychology too much. If we think about it, we spend more time on the internet, social media than with anything else. I think that social media will have a big impact in the coming times. We must keep our minds opened and don't let the glamour of social media fool us.

90% of girls use apps to make them look hotter on social media. It's funny because I can easily identify the editing.

I watched the video posted above by KraftyKyle. But how is BHW any different than social media? BHW offers short-term rewards and that dopamine rush in the form of the thumbs up and thanks, FB, IG, twitter offer that short-term dopamine rush in the form of likes or hearts.

Old users here get validation and social proof in the form of tags and mentions same as users of other social media get comments and likes.

I know there are some people here who only use BHW as a way to get info they can use to make money but many others use it to feel better about themselves, and feel important, an ego boost because they have a big amount of posts and thanks in this forum, or a way they can spend their time on and get distracted in order not to feel overwhelmed by the enormous existential weight of being alive. In the same way others get distracted by facebook or TV shows or video games. BHW is just another way to escape and get distracted.

Ruined a lot of friendships and girls who were nice to be around turned into massive b*tches once they got validation by hungry Indians & old guys on Instagram.

To be honest, though. I'd say it affects you as much as you allow it to affect you. I only check Twitter once in a while and use everything else for business. Keeps you sane. But when I was in my teens and Facebook was getting really popular it definitely affected my attention span (negatively).
