I have around 120 dollars to invest into setting up a wordpress site, after lots of thinking, I decided to make a blog about promoting mtgarena and esports, it will contain some useful evergreen pages and it will mostly be a news site. I want to include an autoresponder and optin.

I'm scared because:

1. I'm not sure if I will need programmer support after I complete my site
2. Will I even be able to complete it? it won't anything strange, just content(visual/copy/an affiliate shop)
3. I don't know what plugins/theme I need

I watched some guides but they aren't specific, they don't explain well the process.

I don't wanna spend money and regret it after. Is there a way to practice the process for free?

Youtube is free source to learn about wordpress.

Wordpress is very easy to manage and with just small research on Google you can easily find best theme and plugin for your wordpress website.

Let me tell you a story quickly

About 15 years I could barely knock together a shitty flyer for a music event. I got ok at that then started my own site, broke stuff, fixed and broke again.... but I learnt.

Now, I run three businesses and have staff. I deal with banks, chairires and all sorts.

Where am I going with this? I was you once, I just learn from what I broke to never do it again, and expand my skills.

Everyone starts without a clue.....the difference between success and failure is that you keep going, even when the pan has a massive hole in it

using WordPress and a theme/plugin thingy like Divi (I may or may not have uploaded a version of this in the downloads section shh)/Visual Composer/Elementor/Oxygen/You Get my drift makes it so as long as you have some understanding of design, you can make something sexy. In terms of plugins there are tons of opt in plugins that are free.

Slightly side note, but use WP Fastest Cache and Imagify to make the site quicker and you should be all good to go!

Don't spend any money yet. Find a free host, there are plenty, install Wp, play around. You can set it as you want even if it's free. You can ownload some fine themes and plugins from here, Festinger's thread for example. InnovativeSEO also has shared a ton in Downloads section. When you're sure you can do it, spend your money.

no one has a clue when just starting out. You learn as you go. Well at least I did. And everyday there is another idea or a problem to be fixed. So you keep pushing!

It's a great thing in the long term and even if you fail, you'll end up with a lot of knowledge. That's how I look at it man.

I build new WordPress sites almost everyday, I have it down to just a few minutes to get it all setup for free (minus the cost of cPanel hosting and domain name)

  1. point domain to hosting IP
  2. make sure PHP is set to to 7.2 in cPanel
  3. install letsencrypt SSL on domain
  4. install WordPress
  5. login to WordPress, change permalink settings to post name
  6. install plugins (I do classic editor, antispam bee, loginizer and yoast on most sites)
  7. install theme, so many free good ones to pick from in the WP repo
  8. customize theme, add logo and choose static or blog homepage.
  9. get some introductory content up/ contact page and privacy policy maybe
  10. that's it ur good

120$? Better spend it on hookers if you don't know what you are doing (applies both ways.. {nothing to do with anal sex}).

J/k

If it is your last resort and you don't know what you are doing, better save the money than wasting it. IM isn't either easy or free. Would not even tell you to "read, read and read" as it does nothing if you don't take action. Better do something else if you are not serious and not willing to lose money. Sorry!

I installed wp on xampp, I play with the free elementor, this will take a while.

There's nothing to be scared of. Just dive in and you'll learn as you go. Making basic Wordpress sites is pretty easy. Either do cheap domain/hosting or just play around with a free wordpress.com setup first.

Bro if you can do that then you have nothing to worry about, that's impressive already. Elementor is fun too yeah enjoy.

I have installed the oceanwp theme because it is being hyped a lot and it's free, I'm not sure what other type of themes mix well with elementor especially free.

You can definitely use wordpress, that's why it is so popular among bloggers, you will be able to set up your blog easily.
There's one thing you need to be aware of though, wordpress blogs can be easily hacked if you use cracked themes.

Yes, there is. You can install "Local by Flywheel". It wil create a local wordpress site on your computer. You can then install your theme, plugin.
Lots of youtube tutorial on "Local by Flywheel".

Hope this help ;)

Elementor pro theme builder looks pretty good, does anyone use it for his own blog page? basically can I build everything I need with the free oceanwp theme and elementor pro theme builder? I'm thinking to build my blog page with it.

Also, what does it mean "you can use it for 1 site only"? how does the system determines that I use on a site and can I only customize that one site with it?

I was thinking the same when I first started my blog. If you are still not sure then just install your website on localhost using xampp + use theme people post on here. But I personally would not wait until I'm "good" at wordpress to start a website. For sure you can use wordpress easily within a week. The most precious thing is your time not $100.
