SEO Strategy 2018/2019? - Basic Help Appreciated

Hi Black Hat Fam,

I'm recently coming off of a 5+ year hiatus from affiliate marketing and trying to get back in the game. I'm trying to get some clarity on what works for SEO these days. (Specifically backlink strategies)

In 2012/2013 when I was actively marketing, SEO strategy was all about getting a TON of links to your site and that would rank your site pretty well if you could push hard. I would use a tool called sick submitter and build links from bookmarking sites, forums (heaviest focus), article directories and of course the link text would always match the keywords I was trying to rank for. That tool doesn't even exist anymore apparently.

From what I've been able to read the game has changed a lot. It seems the SEO formula is much more complicated and intricate.

Would anyone care to provide some basic linkbuilding strategies or formulas you follow?

I hear a lot of talk about social signals, PBN's, and other concepts that are rather new to me.

I'm not asking you to give up your secret sauce but If you could help an old-timer out with some of the basic strategies for 2018 I would truly appreciate it.

First I'd get your on page seo right. Then I'd use social signals to get the link out. Give it a rest and then start building web 2.0s. After that, you can then look into guest posting, PBNs etc.

Obviously what you do will all depend on the competitiveness of the keyword.

What exactly are social signals? I'm assuming this is a combo of facebook, twitter, IG ? Any good tools to automate this? Obviously I can link up and share from my personal accounts but this has limitations with regards to scale-ability

As a side note, dont get too obsessive with yoast or these other types of plugins, just use them as a guide

Social signals is just another name for social shares. Its mainly a combo of fb, twitter, pinterest and google plus (and linkedin sometimes). Not sure if any softwares exist but theres loads of sellers on this forum that can do this for you. Hope that helps

Well, first I want to tell that 5 or 10 years ago what we used to do for SEO is now kind of considered as a crime!

First do the OnPage SEO properly and add relevant content to your website as much as you can. Be an authority site in Googles eyes for your niche. You are done with 50% SEO work!

Now For link building, mostly the guest post will work, but you need to find out the perfect niche related blog, and also you need to do the site audit before posting your content because irrelevant and less authority sites will not give you a satisfied result anymore.

Make genuine footmark in various channels like add your business in Google business/map and optimize it, engage in all relevant social media that your niche suitable for and be consistent.

Maintain good customer reviews on Google, Facebook etc

If you have a blog, post valuable informative content for your targeted traffic

I would do this for a good start. Welcome Back

hi mate, Yoast is a great plugin but don't make everything green or you will end up over optimized.
