How would you monetize these sites?

Hey there, total noob trying to think a way to monetize two sites that I would like to create.
One would be a gallery of exclusive public domain pictures, kinda like a mini Pixabay.
The other more related to my vocation: a library of free indie books for anyone to read online.

My idea was to find a way to monetize the links to each book chapter and HQ picture, but I know adfly and other services are full of malware and crap.

Besides a donation button and banners, I don't know what to do, especially at the beginning, when you barely have visits.

Cpm networks are the best way to monetize this kind of websites , but no good cpm network will accept new sites with no traffic.
