Really disapointed in myself! but got google top spot...

ok so have been a webmaster for 8 or so years and used to bank around $2g's a month while i was college from a forum site that was 100% dynamic it needed no intervention from me, unless it was security related. Well then CJ started dropping key advertisers like ebay and the such and i soon was making nothin and getting 25000 UV a month, i was also getting married finishing up my last year of college and trying to work a full time job....so needless to say the site went to hell, infact i didn't pay my hosting fees for like 2 months and they canceled my hosting account and i lost everything as my most recent backup was many month prior. so i just said f u c k it and moved on...kept the domain because it has great potential. well now i am laid of from my engineering job and looking for some income so i went back to computer repair and IM. Did some research to catch up on the new stuff and let me tell you it's waaaaayyyyyy different, back then you had a "big" site unique content or not you would get great traffic. now it's rocket science! after a week or two of reading about the big G and his new plan i started researching LT key words and and soon found what i thought was a great key word group. well built my site 1000's of times quicker then back then with WP wow! wrote 40+ great articles posted, did all the NEW aged SEO i could find on here, them submited to all the blog,bookmarks, social sites, ect ect.......worked great! searched my key word 2 weeks later and bam top spot! well....then i started to look at my traffic and i was shocked.....7 UV from the search term....WTF! so then i went back to key words tool and started looking again.....i looked at the results from the word above it! and i did this many many times in order to come up with my keyword! I am just at a lost for words.......two weeks and many hours just wasted! I am really hoping i can get some other top spots but i built everything around the one...the domain, the titles, the articles.....WHAT SHOULD I DO?:smashfrea

Don't take it to heart, sometimes it's that simple but usually it's not. You have to keep pluggin away, and keep learning from what your "doing".

Take those 40 articles and start pluggin in 1 by 1 into power article rewriter. Take each one, which should create 40 or more unique each, and start throwing them around on various social sites like squidoo, hub, tumblr etc. Then article directories, ezine, goarticle etc.

At the same time your doing rewrites, start thinking of ways to put your other keywords into the mix using the same articles.

You already have a good bank of assets with your articles alone, which can go along way.

Then start utilizing other backlinking options when needed like bookmarks, forums etc.

Before you know it, you got a "traffic interception" going on within your niche.

Keep pushin on, you've already proven you have the drive, so don't stop.

Thanks everyone for the encouraging word! i am not one to give up but i just feel like i kinda started with a dud....maybe i should actually find a good key word/niche! lol
my current blog has potential but just not a super money maker i don't think......i will keep posting to it and see what happens....will keep this post updated as well for all the other newbs who make this same mistake!
