Hello BHW,

I launched a website and I worked a lot on the SEO of the site and a particular page to rank on a keyword. I added more content, I have more social signals than my first competitor on Google and I think I have better backlinks (authority sites, good anchor distribution, etc.) than him.

However, even after working a lot on search engine optimization (whether in terms of page loading or content), I still can't get to the top of Google's first page. I wonder what I could have done to make it not work.

I'm a little desperate about this and I'd like to hear your opinion in DM about the situation.

Thanks!

You haven't mentioned how long you've had the site for. Also don't ask for direct messages you could get scammed. For your safety keep everything in the open

As for the DM me thing, I suspect there might be a marketing thing going down...

Trustrank.

Read about it.

Especially domain age.

My competitor who is first on the main keyword I am targeting. He launched his website only 10 months ago and he already outranked most of the domains that are more than 5 years old.
I redirected a domain with the same theme as mine (which is 2 years old) with a 301 redirection. Some people say that the age of the oldest domain that is redirected is taken into account as the age of the new domain, but others say otherwise.

It's a little confusing.

Where you are ranking right now?
You getting no traffic?

Maybe his onpage is better. Or he could have hidden links.

I'm getting 4K unique users/day, he has ~9K unique users/day

He has little content (800-900 words). My content is optimized for the keywords (1800-2000 words) with images (keyword in alt atrributed etc.). I have more content and my page is loading faster

SEO has become a theology. Sometimes you did everything right, but hard to get the positive results.

It's all based on algorithms, so there's always a reason for this. If you are not getting results, then you haven't done everything right. That's what makes it fun.

So you're ranking position 2 for your keyword? That's great. No need to work yourself like crazy to get to number 1 just yet, go after more related terms with new pages. It'll be easier to get more traffic that way.

No I rank page 2, sometimes I rank at the bottom of page 1

Ok, but you're getting 4K monthly traffic so you must be ranking higher for other kws. You can easily grow to get more traffic than the number 1 site by diversifying your kws and having more pages that go after lower competition terms. Internal linking will help you push the main one up too.

His onpage still might be better. Use of main keywords and the right (to Google) supporting keywords in right frequency. Its worth a closer analysis.
