Discussion: IG Reducing Inauthentic Activity

Based on the news “Reducing Inauthentic Activity on Instagram” from Instagram-press dot com (apparently I cant post links yet, sorry!)....

The news was already shared, but I wanted to see if there is interest in a guided discussion on the impact of the news.

3 questions:

1. Did you receive a notification or see removal of likes/follows/etc. on your accounts?
2. What method / service were you running to do so? Were you using proxies?
3. Will you make changes to your strategy as a result?

I’ll go first:

1. Have not seen anything as of right now
2. Captivate (moderate / conservative) for last 30 days
3. Going to play keep playing conservative & use Triberr’s shadowban tool to check weekly if any of my accounts have been impacted

Very interesting. Although, this is the direction that Instagram has been going (telling by their actions; i.e, taking down third-pary apps, etc), so it's not entirely surprising to see them openly give a sort of "soft warning" to those who bot.

The botting community is going to need a renaissance and collectively update their best practices, methods, and tools to appear more "human-like".

I myself, haven't seen anything, because I do everything naturally on my accounts.

So they remove any follows and likes they deem to have been made from your account by a bot. What happens to the followers you gain as a result of those inauthentic follows?
Do you lose them too? Trying to get a handle on how this might affect f/u strategy going forward. If you still get to keep your followers then what of value are you losing exactly?

If you read the post carefully, and I could be interpreting it wrong, but it sounds more like they're referring to follows, likes and comments that are bought.. i.e. buying 1k followers to an account, or buying 1k likes to a post. If this is the case, then it will really affect smm panels, as that's their bread and butter.

The reason I don't believe it's in regards to automation period, because they've been combating automation for years.. it's nothing new. And as you see its gotten a little more strict toward reckless automation, which isn't surprising.

I'm not going to lie, it is kind of funny how everytime they make a press release regarding updates people get scared and think it's the end of social media automation. If you get worried that easily, maybe sm automation isn't for you. I've been doing automation for social media for quite a few years, and this is the case with any and every platform.. it's enviable. You just need to learn to keep up with the changes, and adapt. The people who run their accounts at crazy numbers and then start freaking out when they get bans or verifications there's a lot you need to learn about long term automation if that's your goal.

It's understandable that some get worried, as a lot of people on here there first time automating platforms was with IG. Best advice I can give someone new in the game is, take the time to set your settings correctly, don't try and run your account like you're in a sprint, and try best to run your accounts as how a normal human would if your goal is longevity.

Couldn't agree more. Of course they will continue to reduce the amount of reckless automation that happens... but I still think the game is far from over ;-)

This might be related more to panels, dm groups, and powerlikes, powercomments etc. Those things grow accounts wayyy faster than any automation f/uf method can.

Can you guys tell me where do I get monthly service of custom comments. I need to get some comments on posts but want to do the custom comments myself, who offers this service, in-expensive please. I'm still newbie so I can't post a new thread.

Really just curious if there are any big waves to be aware of that people are feeling with this latest release.

Haven't noticed any difference in anything today, as the press release was related to people buying their followers, likes and comments... as it was making it unfair to real influencers because people would pop up with 50k accounts overnight, with fake followers, likes, comments etc... everybody just sped read thru the post and assumed they were talking about people automating their accounts instead.

They teach reading comprehension in grade school.

You didn't get it I think. They are talking about app that ask for username/password - those apps / agencies, take control of your account to interact with other accounts and grow organic likes. This is not about fake account, it's about fake interactions

The series of article about this clearly mention about the fake likes, powerlikes, agencies making likes for you or fake followers. Havn't had anything at all as well

I clearly understand what they're talking about. It's about fake followers, likes and comments AND about third party software that increases likes, follows, etc... if you pay attention to IG, there was some new service that provided increase in follows, likes, etc that was being spammed like crazy in the comment sections. In order to use this platform, you had to login with your IG username and password.

It has nothing to do with using automation software, i.e. jarvee, gmt2, etc. Its really not that hard to comprehend, but people get scared anytime IG makes an announcement. Did you notice any difference in your setup yesterday? I know I didnt.

...as if they haven't been actively been fighting this stuff already. I suspect that its because of that platform that was heavily marketing the follows, likes increase in the comment section, as it asks for your username and password. That and the fact that its influencers have a bad competition because of people who have 50k accounts overnight by buying follows and likes towards their content.

Glad some people can comprehend the article, and aren't getting nervous based on a simple press release. It will separate the people who are built for any and all situations, and those that aren't necessarily built like that. No complaints over here, it helps reduce competition.

Only thing I don't understand is why this article is getting posted over and over again in new threads. I've seen it like 50x in the past 24 hours. Take the time and read thru at least the first page of a sub section before just creating a duplicate thread.
