IG UPDATE: What does it mean for us, botters?

so I found that article today and I just want to know what is your opinion on it and what would be smart move. I believe this affects agencies who manage client accounts the most because this one is bad. It truly is if it's true what they say, that accounts grown via third party apps will be harmed.

Doesn't really much, except stop buying fake followers and likes. I understand some people use it get an initial boost in beginning when growing their account, but it's a poor activity in the first place and will ruin your engagement.. which will later affect your reach.

Same problem here.. not sure if i should stop or not. Risk is big if their accounts get banned or something. Apps for automatition and people who use them will be affected mostly by this.

If you read the article, their referring to purchased followers, likes, and comments. As long as you're not buying their followers, then you should be ok. I can understand your concern regarding making sure your clients accounts arent affected.. as at the end of the day, gotta keep the customer happy.

But let this be a wake up call, as eventually they'll put even more pressure on people automating their own accounts, and not just the people buying followers, lI keep, etc. Not sure how long you've been in the business, but at one time facebook, and twitter automation was quite easy and didn't require much effort like how IG is today. And now in order to automate on a bulk level on those platform it's still doable.. but requires a lot more skill.

Just keep your ear to the street, and continue to automate at safe numbers and you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

I don't see how you could construe that as them referring to purchased followers, likes, and comments, like from panels. They are clearly referring to 3rd party programs used for botting accounts.

I don't think he in construing it that way, it says so on the article: "Starting today, we will begin removing inauthentic likes, follows and comments from accounts that use third-party apps to boost their popularity."

In the quote above, it seems like they are saying that when you share your login information with these bots/third party apps. These apps or the owners of these apps/bots, use your account to like, comment, etc., since they have all your login information already

If you're using a bot to manage your client accounts, then obviously it's an issue. The IG press release makes no mention of whether it's just purchased likes or followers. Actually, it's construed as people using third party services (like, comment, follow bots) that engage on behalf of them.

This type of behavior is bad for the community, and third-party apps that generate inauthentic likes, follows and comments violate our ...

I don't see how this only refers to purchased engagement.

Anyway, if you run a larger IG bot service and want to work on this together feel free to DM. Otherwise, and just like the last time - every man, woman, and manchild for themselves

The update is fresh, did anyone get the warnings on their profiles yet???
this will probably suck for fake like vendors and clients, and any automating thats obvious, and is far from human behaviour
But it can be positive for actual real big acounts, and people who grow acnts in different ways. So the game is not over, but not as easy to get into.
But the real pros, could potentially make more money

If you are following, liking and commenting to grow a clients account you probably shouldn't have clients. Just my opinion

Anytime you are doing that, you have to be prepared to have your account banned anytime.

There are very successful services/vendors who offer exactly this service here on the BHW marketplace (follow/unfollow to grow followers). That's besides the point anyway. This new blog post is indicating they are clearly targeting automation/apps/bots, NOT panels specifically as has been argued in this thread

It's impossible.

They just fight those shitty apps on stores, available for the masses with just 2 clicks.

I think it's safe to say they are well aware of the most popular bots out there, and how they emulate. And it's not that difficult to find bot like patterns if one follows a few 100 accounts a day, then unfollows the next. Just look at the account history, bam, they remove those followers.

I will say this, if you're changing up your settings every single day, giving random rest, a hand full of follows here and there, going nuts some days, then yes, I think it would be pretty much impossible to detect that. But lets be honest, that's not what most people do.

I'm assuming the majority of people will find youtubers like Aaron Ward (who now appears to have had his account banned) copy and paste his settings, and just set it and forget it.

This. We must accept that machine learning is only going to get better at detecting bot-like actions. Even when we think our actions are sufficiently random, machine learning is going to catch patterns we as humans would not. It's going to become more and more important to switch up patterns of automated actions so as to continue to go undetected. The future is inevitable; I for one welcome our Machine Overlords.
