Huge followers drop again

It's happening to everyone. One account went from 173k to 39k in just 2 days.

"Twitter said on Friday that it “discovered a bug where some of these accounts were briefly added back, which led to misleading follower counts” for “very few accounts.”

"The firm told Reuters that it suspects the affected locked accounts are controlled by fraudsters who sell followers to artificially boost accounts’ popularity.
The accounts exhibit hallmarks of fakes, including few profile details, fans and posts, it said."

"Twitter’s own account fell by 7.8 million followers in July but gained back 2.36 million by mid-October. It lost 2.4 million on Friday, according to Social Blade."

So Twitter’s own account controlled by fraudsters who sell followers???? Or is it BUG

So what the conclusion? Twitter is lying about the few accounts being affected and cleaning bots? Hard to believe ... Most probably it's their BS algorithm and luck of investment in proper programming. Shame on Twitter!!!

never ever trust on these networks without backup they punish you when you are on heap

A few weeks ago I gained 5K in a day. This whole Twitter glitch adding back accounts it disabled makes sense.

Disgusting they did same action. Is they caught spammy account. I have 22k follower indeed.

Lost 100k, gained 40k, then lost that 40k

I didn’t care too much but this post helps to understand

So if it's glitch it should be fixed ASAP and the followers returned to the accounts. Otherwise it doesn't make any sense - very few accounts affected??? (lie) spammy accounts are purged??? (lies - there are still a lot of eggs and inactive accounts) Looks like Twitter is trying to destroy itself by treating their users as a shit :(

It is fixed. Twitter doesn't count disabled/banned accounts in your followers list anymore. Their servers screwed up for one day and they were added back to be shown. They refixed it the other day. They aren't screwing with anyone.

Twitter is probably the worst place to even build a following as it heavily relys on organic following and seems to constantly delete bots or inactive accounts. It only makes it that much more difficult to grow a following

Bots and fake accounts often get a massive clearout.

In theory, it shouldn't make any difference to you, as these followers weren't engaging anyway.

This is not true - may be (???) Twitter removed "bot" accounts of my followers but why it couldn't detect a lot of eggs and inactive accounts (2-3 years no posts) from my following??? Now I am forced to unfollow manually about 20k following before I could sell it just to get rid of all this BS twitter manupalations :(

@ScreamingMidget - did you get any guarantees from Twitter that your big account will not get suspended at any moment unless you are Jack Dorsey under covers??? Actually you should know how many the biggest and most popular accounts got suspended lately??? It's because they are creating competition for Twitter earnings in advertising I believe.

That's rubbish. They don't detect all accounts, all the time, but bit by bit, they do remove bots/fake accounts. That's all that is happening.

Twitter want large, respectable accounts - it's what helps them to grow. If they removed the larger accounts that would = less retweeting/liking/engaging/growing.

O ya they want only large, respectable accounts.... That's what is rubbish. Did you noticed that in Q3 they suspended millions of accounts including large, respectable. And their price per share was consistently going down??? All of a sudden after Q3 report on their ads revenue growth share price is increasing? Of course rubbish and just coincidence.

Also why is that:

- their algorithm could suspend their CEO account????
- they disabled D.Trump account???
- they never suspended Peter Fonda account for humiliating youngest son of Trump - "put him in cage with PEDOPHILES" - isn't it hate speech they are claiming to fight???

Now if you such an expert in Twitter algorithm why is that it only removes FOLLOWERS but not the following??? 20k difference in one day will be too much

Try again, but in a less annoying way. You might invite more replies from other posters then.

Good day to you sir.
