URL structure later on

Hey guys, i have a blog about tech reviews that covers several topics.

The permalinks are set to: postname.

Since i don't have much of a content for now but i will in the future, does changing the post main category in any way can hurt my site?

Example:
Right now: - The post first was added to main category: Tech (This category is the primary for now)
Year later: - The post was moved to sub-category "Tech > Smartphones" (Tech was removed as primary category and "Smartphones" was added as new primary category.

I am assuming the URLs will change? If yes, then it can hurt your rankings because you'll probably be building links to these URLs which will change later. You can do 301s to retain the juice but it doesn't pass all of it.

Proper planning of your site structure beforehand will go a long way.

The URL as i mentioned is set to: Postname and there are no category in the URL, it's site/postname.

And I'm guessing you'll change it later to site/category/postname?

These url changes can have a lot of impact.
I would suggest dividing your content to 2 strategies:
Static content
Dynamic content

the static content should be planned ahead(keyword wise). I'd avoid making changes.
the dynamic could be addressed more lightly and changed more frequently.

In the case of category vs sub-category, from my experience, it's best to go for a sub-category, using the main category as a hub page.
