How lonely are you?

I no longer run but you can check my knees and see the miles on them to check the mileage.

The left one hurts all the time and the right one only hurts when the barometric pressure changes quickly.

I lift but only to maintain my girlish figure; not to be bulky muscle man.

Good thread, @super11, something that people need to consider.

Ha ... so the whole "my knee is tripping up... a storm is coming" is actually a real thing?

I'm most of the time alone, but I don't feel lonely.
I have my boyfriend, soon be husband, and we take time to be together almost everyday for hours talking to each other or walking or doing fun stuff.
I have my sister/bestfriend too who calls me from time to time and we meet often.
And I'm very close to my parents and my other sister and little nephew.
I play and talk with them at least once a week.
I talk with some neighbors when we meet in the corridor.
I miss running though. I used to love that, but I can't now for my pregnancy.
But once I'll get this baby out of my tummy, I'll run again.
It's so fun and refreshing.
I used to go to the gym too, but it's not really a place to socialize in my opinion.
It's always full of men who already come with they buddy more often.
There is few women and most are just there to lose weight not to maintain their body or enhance their performance.
And most of the time, they're so ashamed of being overweight that they avoid eye contact and socialization.
I'm not a skinny woman too, but I'm more confident and happy about it as I always has.
Maybe, personnality plays a part in this too.
As I've always been an extrovert, I don't find hit hard to socialize with people.
That's may avoid me from feeling lonely.

No doubt it is - you'll be old like me one day, John, and you'll say to yourself, "That old bastard wasn't lying!" and send me a beer.

I prefer Rolling Rock in honor of Arnold Palmer just so you are prepared.

And, these are some finisher medals (and not podium positions) that I have accumulated in the last one year. Works like "icing on the cake". I have two more events lined up. One is on this Sunday and the next one is in December. I will be doing half-marathons in both the events. I literally look up to these events. And, the best part is running creates discipline in my life. It helps me be more efficient in everything else in life. As others have also suggested, indulging in some activities is the way to go to part ways with life-loneliness.

To get a little back on track... @jazzc is a younger, much better looking guy and has dance moves so he dances.

That works for him; on the other hand I'll head out in my neighborhood and just chat up anyone who is out there at the same time. The majority of the people here are in my age demographic so there are tons of things that we can relate to and that helps a lot.

My neighbor on one side is a couple of retired brothers and when I see them outside I walk on over an chat them up... great guys full of knowledge. One is losing his eyesight and we'll help out by taking him to doctors, walk his dog and just generally help out.

There is a boat ramp about 1/2 mile from us and I'll walk down there and see who is fishing off the ramp and chat them up as well.

The opportunities to not be lonely are all inside of a 1/2 mile from me and I bet closer for many of you... all it takes is a little conversation... a quick, "Hi, how's things?" can get the ball rolling and get you from being inside yourself to being outside yourself.

Ha ... so the whole "my knee is tripping up... a storm is coming" is actually a real thing?

My knees are so mashed up from knockdown sparring in kyokushin and competing in low kick events the accuracy of weather predictions will beat any modern day weather reporting.. I've just not found a way to monetize..

As for being lonely I'm married with two kids my wife is my friend, I speak to one guy online on the old PS4 and that's it. By some peoples definition that's lonely.

There are times I struggle I can't get motivated and think sod it all, and I'll be down in the dumps for days on end. By some peoples definition that's lonely.

If and when I go out to a pub, ill go out on my own and sit on my own. By some peoples definition that's lonely.

I'm just content and happy.

I would suggest you to spend some time on dating sites also.
Meet different girls and maybe find a gf.

Married, two children, not only that I am not lonely, but I don't have time to go to the gym 5 minutes from my home - and the 'worst' of all, I have free gym membership :)

Bad knees and joints - Omega-3 and Labrada ElastiJoint are excellent combination, although no medicine can do wonders to damaged joints. But can help a little bit ...

On a scale of 1-10, mentally I’m about an 8 or 9 and physically is about 7.

I’m currently in university but I don’t really have anybody I hangout with. I’m always walking to classes alone. Eating lunch alone. Sitting in the student activites center alone. I do have friends but I only ever see them in class and I don’t really talk much to them cause I have nothing to say and cause of my severe social anxiety. I also have friends that don’t go to my university that I occasionally see off campus and I do have fun whenever I’m around them. I also have my girlfriend that I go see a lot and it’s helpful knowing I have her in my life. So that sums up what it’s like for me physically speaking.

Mentally speaking, it’s much worse. I’ve pretty much been alone for all my life. I hardly had any friends throughout all of grade school. I was always at my house doing my own thing. I never got to hung out with anybody and except for my neighbors but that was only for a few times a year or two until I eventually moved. I was bullied a lot and soon felt outcasted. These feelings stuck with me for such a long time and caused me to develop a soft depression by high school. After the first couple months of freshman year, my soon-to-be best friend came up to me one day and introduced himself. I didn’t think much of it at the time cause I had the mindset that he’d ditch me not long after cause of how everyone else in my past schools treated me (and also note that I moved the summer before freshman year so I was attending a school where absolutely no one knew who I was). I eventually integrated into his group of friends but still had the same mindset. In took 3 years to finally accept that they weren’t like the other people I had dealt with in my previous schools and I wasn’t AS afraid of that possible outcome. But now I still mostly suffer from fears cause by my social anxiety and depression but I try not to let it get to me too much. I do occasionally have my “episodes” but overall I’m doing okay ;)

Great post, great story!
I wouldn’t say I’m lonely as I have a partner and kids around me all the time, but I am notoriously bad at socialising - to the point I find it almost impossible.

Similar to you though, I started fitness related hobbies in the past two years and that’s really made a positive impact in my life.

Come on Guys, i expected at leat one of you to post the Kim Jong Video/Gif, disappointed

Now I know why most of the Internet Marketers fail TERRIBLY at closing SEO Deals and Clients ....

I survive on what I have, anything I can make online IM is a bonus. Here's to trying!

Since most of us are Internet marketers, I am assuming loneliness is a by-product. At least, this was my case for nearly 7-8 years. What changed?

I started running, taking part in marathons, joined a running academy. Basically, I am an active or semi-active runner these days.

Back in the days, I was a gym-rat. But, it didn't do any good to my social life. But, running changed the stakes for me. It helped me make new friends, chat with like-minded people, gave opportunity to celebrate with them when we completed our first half-marathon together, and gave me many opportunities to be more socially active. Like, I was invited to their house for functions, etc.

Tomorrow, I will be doing shoe-shopping with one of my running buddies. Trust me; these things didn't exist in my life for so so so many years. (mostly my fault) I was so engrossed in making money that I cut my social ties to an point where I become non-existent to everyone. Gladly, those days are left behind.

Of course, I am not diving into the health benefits of running because it's a known domain. But, my social life has taken a boost in the last one year like never before in one full decade. I feel blessed because of that.

I was wondering, how lonely are you or what changed the stakes for you? If you are lonely, follow my path (like embrace some sporting activity) or take clues from other interesting answer that this post might receive (whatever suits you) because you don't deserve a lonely life. I have lived that life so I know how depressing it can be, especially during festival seasons.

Geez, I'm real lonely and that's cause of not having enough financial security in place to get what I need. Sadly everything comes down to tax raping me in the anus. Smh.... But hope to get out of this hole and change my life a little bit

Yeah I can relate to this thread.
It does get lonely at times, but you just gotta be strong.

I enjoy being alone from time to time, but I hate loneliness. As I grow older, my social life is getting a bit worse (I don't go out on Fridays anymore because I'm way too tired), but luckily I managed to make some really great friendships during high school and college. On the scale of loneliness from 1 to 10, I'd say 3 or 4.
