Background
Hey everyone at BlackHatWorld! I'm starting a new journey in Internet Marketing hoping to make some money and be financially independent just like everyone else. Before all my actual marketing content I wanna tell you guys about myself first. Skip this part if you feel like it. :)

I used to read different topics on BlackHatWorld extremely often starting about 4-5 years ago. I used to just read and not take action. Then when I first took action back then it was also through BingADs and Clickbank. I think I made like $75 spending $100 which isn't too bad considering I knew nothing about making good landing pages, tracking, or optimizing. I stopped though after I saw a company that offered an affiliate program that I thought I could really do well marketing.

Let me be real this was an EXTREMELY easy product to market. I'm not gonna give exactly what company but it's a popular app that also has a referral program. I was invited by them to be an affiliate marketer because I got a lot of referrals that gave me a lot of in-app credit. So I was working directly with the company. I only worked with them for about 8 months until they ended their affiliate marketing program but was by the end was making about $15k a month from them. I earned enough to pay for my 3 years at University as well as rent and whatever else I needed for those three years.

I was extremely fortunate to have been invited to this program since I would have had to take out loans. It was a huge relief of stress for both me and my family who would have helped me get through university but also aren't extremely financially comfortable themselves.

Now I am graduated from university with a well-known degree similar to Computer Science in the US from a university that is well known for it's tech majors. I don't want to say exactly the name of the department because I think only few schools call it what my University calls it. I learned UI/UX Design, Software Dev, and Website Dev. I feel like my major will actually help me in my Internet Marketing career because we learned how to perform user research and think in the shoes of the users. This will be similar to market research in a way.

So now I'm starting up a real internet marketing career. As I said, my own IM job was extremely easy so I don't see myself as really learning or having IM success just yet. I still have about $20k leftover from that job so I can invest some in BingADs.

Thanks for reading about my background if you did and lets get started with what I've done so far!

What I've Done So Far
I started a couple days ago after watching countless videos and reading lots of forum posts. Decided to go with BingAds because of my past (very limited) experience with it. I started with a Maxbounty offer that paid out $60 per lead.

This campaign is "old campaign" on the bing ad picture above. On the first day I ran the campaign I made one sale for $60 and but also spent $60 on ads so I pretty much broke even on that day which was much better than expected. I know that first days will likely be negative ROI while I gather data to try and optimize. I then ran it for another $20 the next day but realized that I should start with a lower cost, lower payout offer. I also learned that I need to do a lot more than I did for this campaign when starting a campaign. I direct linked to the offer. I didn't create separate ad groups for separate keyword groups. Since I direct linked I didn't have different landing pages to test. Hell I don't know how I even broke even the first day! I did write multiple ads with different angles and got some good data so I may come back to this offer when I'm more experienced.

So now, I decided to start a new campaign with a new offer. It's a Clickbank offer with a lower cost and lower payout. This way, I'll probably be able to collect more data (hopefully) and optimize it base on that data.

I hope I'm doing this right. I'm going to write out my process but replace the niche with something random like.... "Weight Loss Recipes". First, I did keyword research and came up with three different Ad Groups that are relevant to the product. In the example it would be something like "Weight Loss Recipes", "Weight Loss Cookbook", and "Weight Loss Plans". Each ad group had around 8-13 keywords in it with phrase match so I could try to find more keywords that people are searching for.

For each ad group I created three different ads. Each of the three ads for each group is advertising from different angles. For example in the "Weight Loss Cookbook" ad group there would be things like
"Best Weight Loss Cookbook 2018 - The #1 Cookbook for Weight Loss" (Generic "Best" Advertisement)
"Healthiest Weight Loss Cookbook - Including the Best Healthy Recipes" (Catering towards people looking for the "healthiest" options)
"Weight Loss Cookbook for Everybody - Fastest and Easiest Meals to Make" (Works toward people who are new to weight loss and want the easiest recipes to make)

I'm using ClickFunnels to create my landing pages. Each ad group is being split tested with two different landing pages that are reworded for the adgroup. For example, the page for "Weight Loss Cookbook" would have the header "The Best Weight Loss Cookbook" whereas the page for "Weight Loss Recipes" would have the header "The Best Weight Loss Recipes".

In summary, I'm promoting a Clickbank offer. I made 3 ad groups for this offer. Each ad group has two landing pages.

I'm using ClickMagick to track my data. I can see which ad gets sales. Which keywords get searched and get sales. Which landing page is getting more sales. I will use this data to try and optimize.

As you can see I spend about $41 dollars on the campaign today and only made one sale of about $17

Revenue: $17
Costs: $41
Profit: -$24

Obviously it's sad that I lost money but it's to be expected at such an early stage of my campaign! Glad I even made the one sale. I made a mistake of not putting the negative keyword "free". I got some clicks from people that were looking for a free alternative to my product. So I added that negative keyword. I also figured out some keyword phrases that would not lead too well to a sale. I also added them to negative keywords. Not too sure which landing page is better yet because of only getting one sale. Also, some ads have a higher CTR so it seems like I may have winners in that department but I'm going to leave all of them running for one more day to see how it goes. All the changes I've made are on the keyword lists. Hopefully it gives me good results!

Questions for the Experts
How do I track people who click on my link and also click through to the product page? I only see which page leads to a sale but I don't know how to see which of my landing pages make people go to the product page. I've searched but I don't even know what to search for so if someone could explain it briefly that would be a huge help.

How do I optimize with such little data of sales? I figured out some negative keywords to add but also don't know what keywords to keep in because there's so little data to work from. Do I just leave it running and wait until a lot more data comes in?

Is my CPC too high? Is 1 sale with 35 hops alright? Spending $40 for $17 revenue is a little disheartening even though I know it needs to be worked into profit with data. It may be because I'm not exactly sure what to optimize with this little data.

Thanks all!

Conclusion
Sorry if I wrote too much. I bet I wrote stuff that could have been condensed when explaining what I'm doing. I hope it can be helpful for others looking how to set up a campaign though! I'm planning to update this at the end of every day but obviously life is busy and also writing this entire post out made me realize how much work it is to write a decent post. I'll try my best to update as much as possible! I won't quit this campaign because I have so much time to work, I have a house over my head, and $20k in the bank to work with. I'm also already inspired because making sales first day for both campaigns. I'd appreciate any help and advice that you guys give me.

1. Install Google Analytics and you can see user behavior.
2. Just leave it like that until you have collected enough data.
3. No your cpc seems good., with that many clicks you should have had more sales. Check your landing pages and make them user-friendly.
4. Wish you good luck.

focus on CTR more CTR more traffic,so try differents headlines

Thanks gonna install Google Analytics right now!
Is 35 hops after 100 clicks a good number? Trying to pinpoint whether it's more so my landing pages or the product page so I can choose a different product in the same niche or create more landing pages to test.

Yea I'm running 3 ads per ad group right now so hopefully I can figure out a clear winner out of them and keep running the winning ad.

Definitively following this! Wanted to try out, but never takes actions on this method! :)

I will be following this! thanks for the great post!

It will be surely interesting to watch and follow this thread.
All the Best to your journey.

I've created a new landing page to test for my offer. My old landing page may have seemed a bit scammy it was just a page with a picture of the product, the title, and a quick description of it that also said 75% off with a call to action button. Now, I've created an article looking page that looks more trustworthy. We'll see if this can warm up the viewers better and they'll be more likely to click through and convert. Will post an update later tonight on how it goes!

Well, it is and it isnt. Make a better CTA(Call to Action) and see if there are any improvements. Your job is to take the visitors to the product LP and if their product is good then it is going to convert. Just warm them up a bit.

Not a good day but that's ok!

Didn't get too many stats on my new landing page because I made it late in the day so I'm not sure if its good yet or not. I'm also contemplating choosing a different offer. When I think about my niche it seems like people could and would just search for free alternatives easily. I need more buyer intent for my products. I'll think about it and if I'm gonna switch I'll set up the entire campaign tonight so it's ready to run tomorrow.

Haven't gotten Google Analytics to work yet. I put the code in the header of my clickfunnel pages but it only tracks how many active users there are. I'll do more research to figure out how to use it cause there's probably dozens of guides out there on how to set it up.
Its looking rough because I'm not sure what data to go off of to try and optimize. But not giving up! Gotta keep going until I see some consistent profit.

Todays Stats

Revenue: $0

Profit: -$45

I've decided to go back to the first Maxbounty offer I promoted a few days ago that I mentioned in my first post. The one that gives me $60 per lead. This is why:

The Clickbank product I had didn't have good keywords with 'buyer intent'. I'm sure there are some out there (there has to be for every kind of thing out there) but I just couldn't think of good keywords where people would be ready to buy a product. I can come up with some keywords for this other offer. Another reason is that I was actually able to make a sale on my first day advertising it and break even. I didn't even see how the second day would go because I stopped the campaign early due to my fear of wasting a lot of ad money since it's a higher ticket item. I was scared that people wouldn't buy these somewhat expensive items. However, if there is a pain point and a reason for people to buy it then they will buy it. I realize that since I had a bit of success (breaking even on the first day) with this product I should stick with it and optimize it. I was able to make this sale before even learning about making separate ad groups for different keywords. I only advertised it with one ad group full of varying keywords.

Now, I have three separate ad groups with three different ad copies for each ad group. This is important because the ad copy will be more relevant to the keywords, Bing will then put my ads up higher and the cost per click will be lower.

One thing is, and I know you guys aren't going to like this, is that I'm going to continue direct linking to this offer at least for tomorrow. This is because they actually have several options for landing pages instead of just their product page and I believe some of them will perform really well. This makes my tracking somewhat limited because I won't be able to see necessarily if the landing page is performing well other than if there are conversions coming from it. I would like more data such as if they clicked through the landing page to the product page. I would like to be able to customize the headers, call to action, etc... So I WILL create my own landing pages if the vendors don't perform too well. If anyone is following along and trying to learn from my journey then I recommend making your own landing page rather than doing what I'm doing. I'm only doing it because theirs seem really quality. Will post updates tomorrow on the results! Wish me luck!

I tried to setup a BingAds campaign with a direct link before ( Maxbounty ) but was not accepted.
Do they accept iframing or link redirecting or anything like that? ( I checked before and I think it is not allowed... Also for iframing, not all Advertisers accept it while promoting their offers ).

You seem to be headed in the right direction :) What sort of landing page were you using for the CB lander, was it a review article, a personal anecdote with a product recommendation, a fake news article, etc? You need to spend a lot of time on CB landing pages, re-read them multiple times from a visitor's point of view and address any doubts/friction that you think might arise.

But moving away from CB is definitely not a mistake, they've been steadily getting worse and worse over the years. I used to have $10k months from bing ads and CB back in 2012. Recently(like past year or so), I've been getting a crazy amount of order form impressions that don't result in sales (upwards of 10-20), IDK if CB are complete retards for not optimizing their order page experience or if the vendor is doing something shady to get the sale without me getting a commission, but it sucks either way. Sales have gone consistently down. Also, there's the amazon competition..

Good luck

Hey op
I checked clickmagick regarding your first question
But they look to cover all your needs already?

They saying they can track entire funnels as well as A/B split test for different landing pages too

If they cant handle those i dont see the point you paying for their service

I even found heatmap tracking stuff such as crazyegg and mouseflow, you might want to check out

Following you btw :p

I'm not sure if they allow direct linking. I'm finding varying information about it, some people say its ok some people say it's not. I will usually make landing pages though and will likely make one for this offer as well later today. I'm reading a lot about how important it is to get your own email list for your offers so you can sell them later on it if they don't buy in the first place. It's something I overlooked and requires my own landing page to do.

For the last Clickbank offer I was trying a fake news article. Yea I've read stories about why people don't like Clickbank. I'll probably come back to Clickbank later to diversify but for now I'll look at Maxbounty stuff! Thanks!

Oo I should look into how to track entire funnels with Clickmagick. I just didn't know what to look for when trying to figure it out. Thanks!

Small Morning Update
I woke up and saw that my Ads were not receiving very many impression. I think it's because my bid is to low. I raised the bid of my ad group with buyer intent to .70 and others without much buyer intent to .40 and .20 depending on if I think they can still make a sale. Will update tonight on results

We've got some good news and some bad news today! We've gotta start with the good news for the bad news to make sense. So it seems like going back to the old offer was the right decision. I was able to get another conversion today giving me $60. Look at the stats below.

Todays Stats
Revenue: $60
Costs: $19
Profit: $41

So as you can see I made about $41 profit today. The ads are still running so I'll likely spend more ads and hopefully it will lead to another conversion. So good news!

On to the bad news. Another thing you can see on my stats is that I was only able to spend $19 today. This is odd to me. I have the budget set for $60 because I need more data and clicks to see what's working and what's not. The first day I advertised this offer I was able to get enough clicks to spend the entire $60 budget. I did add different ad groups to target keywords better but I still have the old ad group running. I thought it may have been my bids on my ad groups so I increased my bids even higher but the end result is still only being able to spend $19 so far today. Need some advice on this. What's going wrong where it didn't use all the money today? I need more data to be able to optimize it well.

Overall, pretty good day and I'm feeling good about it. Hope to see more profit and success in the coming days!

Hey, you know that it's not real time? Just wait, no need to get fast with PPC, increase your bid in case that It doesnt works, and if its really a problem you can call Bing, they can help you!

You already started the Journey before the thread, that’s some seriousness and will definitely keep following. Goodluck

Good luck op, Just want to ask you, are you using squeeze pages? or you are promoting landing page > offer
