Should I go for Fancy guis or just keep it simple?

I was in charged of this fucking GUI, and I fucking suck at designing things. I posted a thread about this before, but it was kind of different.

Me and ny friends built a RAM optimizer tool, and I proposed that we put it on a PPI, but in one condition, I'll be the one in-charge of the UI, both the Program and the website.

So if you we're developing a RAM optimizer, what would you put in the GUI? Besides from the "install" and "uninstall" buttons and the Logo?

And should I just make it look native? or some fancy shits?

It would bebdistributed for free, just so yoi know.

On a serious note, Ram optimizer should actually optimize it. Don't loose your head in such a trivial detail. People would appreciate the software if its helps them in someway. UI is not really a concern here.

So if you would build that program, what else could you possibly put in the gui to make it better? Any opinions?

How about a nice dashboard with metrics (gauges charts) ? Stuff like current RAM usage, what the program actually did for optimisation etc ... ?
The idea of having an app working on the background without an interface for interaction seems shady.

I fucking suck at designing things.

I would say it depends on your end-user and the amount of time they will spend on your software.

Of course, a nice modern UI will always be better than a clunky one. But if your user is a professional who will just need to open your interface to make a copy-paste, then a click. You don't really need to spend to much time on appearance.

On the flip side, if your user is a simple consumer of a service you provide, you want to make something eye-candy to keep your user engaged and give him a good impression of your product.
