Bad English Alert.
I gained more than 120k subscribers using this.
I used to make the remix of music videos with animation movies, and my channel used to grow so fast that I getting about 3 - 4 million views a day, and it was working because music videos are most popular things on youtube.
I used to wait for new music of popular artists and upload video as soon as possible and two of my videos got 20 million and 30 million views.
Now here's how I was getting monetized despite of the copyrighted material.
For animation I used, Pixar, Dreamworks or Walt Disney studios movies and most of them are copyright free.
And for music, I use to take the cover of the music, not the original audio, and check it on a dummy channel if it is copyrighted or not.
It took some time in the beginning but it worked for me and I made a few grand within months from that channel.

The first thing that viewers see is the title of the video and thumbnail, so do your best on the thumbnail, now what I used to do was download the thumbnail of original music and then I take the picture of the main character of animation which I am using and crop the face of character, and than I paste the face of character on face of the artist on original thumbnail, if there is any.
And for title I just put the name of original song featuring (ft.) Animations's character name.
It worked for me just make sure your thumbnail is good

that is not the best way, because many people it takes it get very few views if get any. Facebook don't promote well post with yt links, and many people has social media for free which doesn't include data for watching yt video
