Launched my first Kickstarter - Feedback & My experience

Hi Guys,

While I've been online for years i decided to focus more on offline activities. After finding some cool things to do on Youtube i decided to start ring making. It started out as a great hobby but it ended up in a serious business idea. I really enjoyed being offline for a while and it's a great combo.

I still want to run a webshop with products i created. This keeps me online while it's still fun to do and offline for the great switch.

Since there isn't a lot of Kickstarter topics on this forum i thought why don't i share my experience.

First of all i never used Kickstarter before so this was new ground for me. I always wanted to try it but i never had a suiting project or product. With these rings i decided to go for it and it worked out pretty well for now.

While i was fine-tuning my project page i kind of hit the launch button. Kickstarter told me they would have to preview it before i could actually launch it. Trying to be as fast as possible i hit the button to get it accepted so i could launch whenever the time was right.

Joke was on me, they didn't need to check it apparently and it went online instantly. After that i just went with the flow.

Day 1 started out great. We've hit the first 25% funding. After that it went down slowly. Now with 2 weeks left we are at 76% and i'm pretty sure we will make it! Once we do i will actually rent a location and start working on it more. As for Kickstarter, i'm hooked! It's a great platform for these kind of things and really gives a 3th dimension to online marketing.

Though after day 3 pledges went down to 0/2 a day. I guess this is pretty normal since you are out of the new section and ranking does it's thing.

So as i am on Blackhat World for a long time already i thought why not share it with you guys. It's the Lounge after all!

Would you guys check out my Kickstarter and give me a honest opinion on how it looks, what feel it gives you when you are reading it and what could be improved?

Also if any one has any ideas on advertising i sure want to know.

As for now i am able to build a lot of traffic but 0 conversion. My Facebook ads are legit and are really relevant with a "premium" custom audience but conversions are nowhere to be found. I managed to get 3K hits but none of it mattered.

Hmm. Seems your doing very well, you've made almost 4k. Make sure to hit your goal, and good luck, those type of rings are unique. I'd recommend a Etsy store right away.

As this Kickstarter legitimately is needed for the last bit of budget that's what we will do after. Once this Kickstarter succeeds it's enough money including my personal savings to rent a nice workplace. Once that's all settled and the Kickstarter is rounded up ( and delivered ) we will open up our webshop and a Etsy store at the same time!

did you target those facebook ads to men and women? i think the lack of female models on the kickstarter page might make it harder to convert women to buy the rings. You say they are unisex, which is awesome, but you need some photos/video of how they look on different sized (and coloured) hands.

maybe a little personal touch (talking to camera) in the video would help too. it's a cool product so more of a personal story (in person) would help sell it.

I totally agree with you. I made a lot of rings in big sizes for the photo's only to remember later that women have way lesser sizes.. I am creating new rings in women sizes as we speak because i had the same feeling! Too much men and too less women.

I think you are right about everything and i will update it once i got some rings that women actually fit .

i assume women buy more rings than men but who knows! glad you're on top of it.

If your going Etsy, then yes a lot of women are on there. They arent afraid to pay top dollar ethier, cause their all 25-50 year old women with like middle to high wealth bracket.
