There are also providers who do not even have a sales thread on BHW. They add you on Skype and start pushing their own service.

The thing is, it's not about me being able to block them, because I can and I do. It's just shame that so many people are destroying themselves by desperately asking to buy from them. And you know, desperation gets you nowhere. The first post was meant for sellers to stop them to devalue themselves and their services because of their annoying "marketing".

I will NEVER buy from a business that spams me out of nowhere. I have noticed a bunch over the last month on Skype too. I also had some members here just send me a PM out of nowhere offering me services, sometimes for free. I questioned them and asked is this not spam and they said "no i was just trying to offer you a free services" fucking idiots don't even know what spam is. And these are VIP's that have been members for years! I never reached out to them, never asked them for anything. I also notice that the spam I get all comes from one country, no points for guessing what one....dear sir.

I just reported someone who did the exact same thing. My report got denied because 'we can't control the whole internet. Only what happens on BHW'

We don't manage the internet - just what happens on BHW.

If you have your Skype out there in public (on this forum or other places) we cannot control what people do with it.

I covered that already above in that we cannot trespass the eyes/scrapers.

He did not message you via PM; he messaged you via Skype.

Perhaps if @Diamond Damien reaches into his wallet and buys Skype we could them stop some of the unsolicited sales tactics there.

I get them all the time but am not the least bit bothered as I just ignore them... sort of how I treat my ex wives.

Not getting political but in the States if you put yourself out in public you can be filmed legally and if you put your Skype/email on a public forum you are going to be a market target.

On this side of the pond, things work quite differently. A company or individual cannot simply use your personal data for marketing without your consent because they found it on the internet.

If they are based in the EU, you can take them to court for a few hundred euros. If they are based outside, then there's not much you can really do.

Im confused now.

Obviously we don't control the whole internet.

I have 30 email addresses just for purchasing, so if I ordered from seller A I use 1 email address just for that seller.
If I suddenly get spam emails to that email address, then it's 100% sure who leaked / shared / sold my email address.

As for Skype, then if members have their Skype address visible, then that is their choice.

I get this all the time. People trying to get me to outsource work to them or sell me their SEO/link building services. I have no clue how they're finding me in the first place, or maybe they're just scraping addresses and adding everyone. I always have to tell them I do all of the writing I provide myself and they always tell me in broken English that they can do it for much cheaper. It's annoying.

It’s the new form of cold calling. They’re just trying to do their own hustle. Do the same thing you do when to get a telemarketer call. Ignore it or just block the number.

I do the same thing, and one of those addresses is now receiving phishing emails purporting to be from paypal.

Is this be something that should be reported? I would have thought that targeting BHW members for phishing would fall under the TOS section on hacking, but the support department told me to go through the SL procedures first and only bring it to attention of staff if they refuse to remove me from the mailing list.
